Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys
by Loubielou82
I wore Acuvue Oasys lenses for several years until I recently made the change to the daily disposable version of the same lens. As somebody with very dry eyes, I needed a lens which would stay moist and sit comfortably in my eye for several hours each day and I did find that the Acuvue Oasys lenses were perfect in this sense.
...
My main problem with these lenses was that they had to be removed every night, cleaned with a solution and then soaked in a lens case overnight ready to be put in again the next morning. Solutions are expensive and I went through several lens cases in an attempt to keep everything clean however I still found myself getting recurring eye infections. Upon being referred to the hospital, the optician informed me that they see endless infections like mine, all caused by people using the same contact lens day after day, and for this reason I changed to the dailies.
Overall, these are very comfortable lenses, great for those with dry eyes, however please be very careful when cleaning them so as to minimise infection. Read the complete review |

Johnson & Johnson 1-Day Acuvue Moist
by Loubielou82
I have been wearing contact lenses now for almost 15 years however after a series of recent eye infections; I have made the switch from using Acuvue Oasys weekly disposable lenses, to using 1 day Acuvue Moist.
The key benefit of these lenses for me is that they totally minimise the chances of infection as a fresh lens is ... used every day and then discarded. With my old weekly lenses, I had to remove them every night, clean them with a contact lens cleaning solution and then soak them in a lens case overnight before putting them back in again each morning. I was spending a fortune on cleaners and cases and was getting recurring eye infections from a build up of bacteria which was accumulating over the course of the week.
Whilst the daily disposable lenses are a bit more expensive than the weekly lenses, I do feel that the cost is justified as I am not buying solutions etc. and my eyes definitely feel healthier with a new lens each day.
The 1 day Acuvue Moist lenses are very similar to the weekly disposable lenses in pretty much every other way. They are very soft and easy to put in and I find they are comfortable for a good 7 or 8 hours before I either have to take them out, or use some artificial tears to keep them moist for a little while longer. Optrex Dry Eye Drops
by MEL0611
Having had my eyes tested only a couple of months ago; I knew that there was nothing wrong with the prescription of my glasses. However, after returning from work after Christmas I was starting to struggle with the soreness of my eyes and the fact that I was waking up or going to bed with them feeling dry. I decided to mention this at ... the Opticians, I do have a friend working there so felt that it was a good starting point. She told me almost instantly that due to the fact I spend most of my working day at a computer and that I was suffering from dry eye syndrome and she recommended some drops for it. The ones that I ended up purchasing were the Optrex Dry eye drops and here are my thoughts on them.
I paid around the £4.80 mark for the eye drops and this was from the Boots store. I was able to get some advantage card points as well with this. The eye drops can also be purchased from a few other high street stores such as Superdrug and Savers as well as it being in the larger Supermarkets. To be honest, when buying the product I didn't consider the price being that different and when researching it for the purpose of this review I found that it doesn't appear to vary that much.
The Optrex Dry Eye drops come in a cardboard box and there is a lot of detailing on this that tells yo everything you need to know. There is also a well detailed leaflet that comes with the drops and inside the packaging. The main thing for me with having eye drops was that I could actually get them somewhere close to my eye! The packaging as well as the bottle have the Optrex logo on and name of the product. There are directions for use and a breakdown of ingredients. It is important to note that whilst I do not wear contact lenses, thee drops are safe to use with lenses, you don't even need to remove them.
We are told by Optrex that the drops are 'specially formulated to tackle aspects of modern living such as computers, central heating, air conditioning and polluted atmospheres'. The drops will lubricate the eyes and promise to give an immediate difference. With all these facts I wanted to get my eyes sorted so started using the drops.
They were very simple to put in. We are given instructions to use them, there is a small opening after removing the cap of the drops and they come out slowly enough that the solution isn't dripping everywhere! You just put into the corner of the eye and then blink a couple of times. The only sensation that I can say that I felt was that they felt a little cold but I had no horrible side effects or sensations.
I can honesly say that my eyes felt instantly relived. By using the drops a couple of times a day for about a week, they just felt differnt, less sore and irritated. I still have some left and have used them on the odd occasion but nothing as regular as when I first had them. They are very easy to adminsiter and the fact that the relief is so quick fo rme is a great thing. I think they are also a good value for money and I would be happy to pay this again and keep some drops in.
5 out of 5 from me
