Boots Brightening Eye Drops
by Whizz11
Just recently I have noticed that my eyes are a bit dull and often have red veins appearing quite a bit. They are really tired as I have two young children. I have seen the optician so its nothing bad but they use are being a bit over worked and do not look as sparkling as I would like them to look. The red veins appear when I have been ... wearing my contacts for quite a while so I try to limit my usage but that doesn't always work out and I think the red veins really make my eyes look sore and not very nice. I have been using Boots dry eye eye drops for a while now and they are really helping to keep my eyes moist, especially at night at the end of a long day but those drops don't really work on dull, red eyes. I decided to try the Boots brightening eye drops as I am pleased with the dry eye ones and hoped they would work the same.
These drops are especially formulated for brightness and Boots say that they are ideal for enhancing the natural brightness of your eyes. This is exactly what I wanted them for so I was hoping they would work well. The drops are said to work on all eye colours and contain natural plant extracts.
The drops are really easy to use and I don't really find it a problem to drop the liquid into my eyes. The drops come in a little 10ml bottle. This cost me just £3.69 from Boots which I though was a really good price as I've used it now for a few weeks and there still seems to be loads left. I suppose when you are only using a drop or two at a time it will last for a long while although once you have opened these drops it tells you on the packaging that you need to discard them after 90 days.
The drops are really easy to use. The little bottle has a twist off cap and then there is a little nozzle at the top of the bottle. You are meant to add 2 or 3 drops of the solution into your eyes and then blink Two or three times so it gets distributed around your eye. The bottle is not squeeze so you cannot squeeze the drops out but if you hold it upside down you can see that the solution drops out quite easily so it's easy to get the drops in your eye. Sometimes maybe a couple more drops will come out than you want but I don't think this is a really big problem. The little bottle is quite chunky so easy to hold on to and position near your eye. One tip I would give is to not touch your eye with the nip of the bottle as this could cross contaminate your eyes if you have anything wrong with them.
I tend to add these drops to my eyes when I can see a lot of red veins in them or first thing in the morning to really give my eyes a boost. When I have red eyes, after I have applied the drops I wait half an hour or so and you can see that the red veins have started to disappear and the whites of my eyes definitely come back so I really like the results I get from these drops.
One word of warning I would give is that if you are a contact lens wearer like me you are not supposed to use these drops whilst wearing soft contact lenses. This is different to the dry eye drops which you can use with contact lenses so you do need to be careful and remember this when using these drops. All in all though I would definitely say that they have worked for my eyes. Read the complete review |

Boots All In Once Lens Solution
by wonkybox
I've been wearing contact lenses for 14 years and have tried many brands of treatment and storage.
The solution provided by Boots meets the standard of all of the more expensive brands such as B&L, at a much more reasonable price. My optician explained to me that the effective cleaning of contact lenses requires a solution ... that removes protein produced by the eye that is smeared over the surface of the lens, and seemed to think that most contact lens solutions providers were indiscernable from one another.
In emergency travel situations I've kept one pair of contact lenses in a case of this solution for ten days and didn't experience any discomfort or irritation when inserting my contact lenses (that indicates the solution has deteriorated and stopped removing protein from the lenses).
This product comes in different iterations of sizes, however beware that the 'travel-sized' bottle is over 100ml and subsequently you are unable to take it onto a plane in your hand luggage.
To summarise my optician told me that chemically this stuff is very similar to human tears and isn't expensive to manufacture, so I'm pleased Boots aren't charging loads for it. Read the complete review |

Boots Sterile Saline
by newby2
==Boots Sterile Saline==
Going through stages of wearing monthly disposables or daily disposables means that I seen to have such a collection of contact lens related items and having a clear out I came across this bottle of Sterile Saline from Boots which is now out of date and needs to be thrown away.
This solution ... is of course only available from Boots but it is in most of their stores and doesn't cost too much. At £3.63 pence for a very large bottle of 360 ml you seem to really get your monies worth when buying this product.
The main reason I purchased this was for my monthly disposable lenses which need cleaning off regularly and really looking after in order for them to be clear and comfortable to wear. This solution is perfect for giving the lenses a rinse off before they go in the special solution and lens case overnight.
The solution is a clear water like product which is preservative free and has no dour to it. It is suitable for all types of contact lenses and for all intense and purposes it could be tap water (expensive tap water) for the general look at it. It does however seem to do a good job at washing my lenses of all the smudge marks and impurities and the solution on the whole seems to work really well. It is not a product which is suitable for the overall washing of lenses and a proper cleaning solution should be used in conjunction with this product.
The design of the bottle is adequate for the way the item is used and the overall look of the bottle is pretty basic but this is really all you need in order for you to know what the product is and how the solution works.
The only downside with a product such as this is the relatively short date life of the solution to ensure that the product stays sterile and of course the bottle I have still has a good deal in but is a couple of years past the use by date. It is now going into the bin!
Overall I feel that it is an expensive bottle of product, what is more of less water, but as with a lot of contact lens related items these all seem to be expensive and therefore this bottle is no different. You do get a good deal of solution for your money but the short date life seems to mean that you have to use it really quickly in order to be able to use all of the solution.
However as far as this product goes I can't really fault it apart from being expensive for what it is and I feel a score of 4 out of 5 stars is more than appropriate. If you need it then this is a good one to chose and I would recommend it.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
