I first used Refresh eye drops when I had laser surgery to correct my short sighted vision. To help the eyes heal and to relieve the temptation to rub them when itchy after being sliced open the surgeon gave me a couple of different types of drops, Refresh being one of them.
I've kept a pack handy ever since as they do a great job of lubricating sore eyes after a day of staring at a computer screen at work or for flushing out any dust/grit etc that gets in your eyes.
The box contains 30 individual single use vials of 0.4ml, one of which is enough to do both eyes. Each vial is sealed with a twist off cap that keeps them sterile until opened and has an eye dropper end so just squeeze the bulb part and out it comes a drop at a time.
I especially find them handy to take out during the summer. Getting any small particles in your eye from a bit of a breeze on a dry dusty golf course or down at the beach can be cleared out with a few drops per eye without the potential for damaging the eyes surface from rubbing.
From my local chemist they are just under £9 for a box, so at 30p a go I think they are well worth it for the comfort they provide.
When I first started using contact lenses I overused and was told to cut down by my optician. One of the side effects of this has been that I seems to have developed Dry Eye on a regular basis. It comes at unpredictable times but the lenses are definitely the cause of the dry eye and Allergan Refresh Eye Drops are one of the many brand of eyes drops I have used to cure this.
I must say that these Allergan Refresh Eye Drops are perhaps the better of the brands I have tried. There is very little difference and when selecting eye drops its going to more about personal taste and different drops will suit different eyes. These suit me fine though and my Dry Eye clears quicker and doesn't come back so soon when using these.
Normal eye drops come in a small bottle with the mechanism for dropping it into the eye already built in. With these Allergan Refresh Eye Drops what you get is 30 small, sterilised tubes to drop it into the eye. Ideal for portability but this comes with a few issues.
I feel that having a small bottle with the same quantity lasts longer someone. If you use on a daily basis the £5.99 or so you will pay for these means you will get two weeks worth if using on both eyes. Not as good a value as elsewhere!
I however feel the effect makes up for the cost and these drops, intended to get rid of dry eye and irritation, seem to make my eye feel normal and moist. Some eye drops are very "heavy" and make the eye feel sore, itchy and as if theres something in it. This is a lighter fluid which drops into the eye causing no pain or irritation and you feel it working straight away. Unlike some eye drops too you tend to forget you have put it in as it doesn't stay around in the eye as some do.
All in all this product gets rid of my dry eye in an instant and has made my eye feel healthier the next day and it has eased my contact lens use as my eyes don't dry up so quickly. Ideal!
