Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not really a disadvantage but I prefer with Barrel cases
So how do I write a review about a contact lens case that I own, it's kind of hard so forgive me if this is a very short review but I'll go in to as much details as you possibly can about a contact lens case.
Firstly for those that do not know these are simply used to store contact lenses. You get too different type of cases, these are the original old school style, but in more recent years the Barrel cases have become more popular especially for the peroxide solutions which require a catalyst neutraliser. In fact Specsavers only have barrel cases for any type of solution.
These cases are more useful for the multi-purpose solutions and for soft contact lenses. The design of the case is very basic and uses a simply screw on mechanism for the lids. There are two compartments which of course is for your right and left eye. They are marked so you know which one contains which lens. If you have the same prescription for both eyes then this won't matter but of course it is vital if you have different powers for either eye like myself.
There is a lined inside the compartment once you open the lid. This allows you to see how much solution you need to pour in to get full coverage for the lens. However I feel this line is put a little too high in order for you to use more solution than necessary. This is beneficial to the company as it then requires you to buy more expensive solution and hence by doing something as simple as putting a line a few mm higher than necessary it can result in making a lot more money from solution.
The cost can vary anywhere from £1.50-£2.50, however generally the best value of money comes when you purchase this with the contact lens solution itself, as usually most solutions come with a contact lens case. However they are cheaper than the barell cases which cost a minimum of £3 and again are best value when bought with the solutions.
You need to always thoroughly wash the case after each use, as the dirt from the lenses builds up at the bottom of the compartment. Unlike with the barrel cases it is important to insert the lenses in to the compartment in the correct way. Here you need to put them inside with the eye touching side of the lens face down. This ensures that the dirt does not stay on the lens.
Overall I would give these three stars, as they get the job done and essentially good at storing contact lenses. The reason I only give three stars is due to preferring the barrel cases and not having the option of a catalyst neutraliser which I feel is a more effective type of solution. Overall if you simply want something temporary to store lenses then this gets the job done.
Summary: Best used as a temporary measure to store lenses
