Advantages: small bottles to take on board a plane

Disadvantages: more expensive than a big bottle

I use Bausch & Lomb ReNu contact lens solutions on a fairly regular basis. I also often use airports and only travel with hand luggage.

Since the hand luggage change rules on airports all across the world it is not easy to take liquids on board a plane any longer. You are restricted to only certain amounts of liquids (in tubes, pots, jars and bottles) no more than 100ml a time.

If you wear contact lenses and do not use daily or extended wear lenses, you will have to rely on contact lens solution to keep your lenses clean and store them in.

Bausch & Lomb have created ReNu MPS so that you only need one bottle for all your contact lens cleaning needs. You can clean, store and rinse your lenses using just this one solution. And not only that, it is designed for sensitive eyes, too, so there shouldn't be any problems using it on your soft contact lenses.

I travelled to Germany not long ago and carried only hand luggage. I had to pack my contact lens cleaning solution as I was still trying out lenses and was told to remove them every night and not wear them continually.

I needed something that would be allowed on board a plane. Bausch & Lomb have come up with the perfect solution. Not only do they give you two bottles of solution at 60ml each, they also supply a handy zip lock pack with it. All you need to do is remove the box, pack the bottles into the clear plastic bag and zip it up, ready for airport security checking.

The bag was even big enough to hold some of my other liquids I had to carry on board during my flight and I had no problems getting through security check.

Packs are available from large supermarkets, Boots and other outlets selling contact lens cleaning solutions. Prices vary with the highest prices to be paid at the airport itself but at least they are offering it as a solution if you accidentally packed your large bottle and had to destroy it or need something while travelling. Expect to pay around £4.50 but it will get you out of a tight spot and supply you with bottles that you can take through security at airports without problems.

Summary: Contact lens solution to take on board a plane
