“ Manufacturer: Boots / Type: Solutions & Cleansers „
I've been wearing contact lenses for 14 years and have tried many brands of treatment and storage.
The solution provided by Boots meets the standard of all of the more expensive brands such as B&L, at a much more reasonable price. My optician explained to me that the effective cleaning of contact lenses requires a solution that removes protein produced by the eye that is smeared over the surface of the lens, and seemed to think that most contact lens solutions providers were indiscernable from one another.
In emergency travel situations I've kept one pair of contact lenses in a case of this solution for ten days and didn't experience any discomfort or irritation when inserting my contact lenses (that indicates the solution has deteriorated and stopped removing protein from the lenses).
This product comes in different iterations of sizes, however beware that the 'travel-sized' bottle is over 100ml and subsequently you are unable to take it onto a plane in your hand luggage.
To summarise my optician told me that chemically this stuff is very similar to human tears and isn't expensive to manufacture, so I'm pleased Boots aren't charging loads for it.
I grew increasingly frustrated at the solution that my contact lens provider was issuing me with. Although I had mass quantities of it I found that over a long period they were not cleaning my monthly lenses to the quality I expected. The solution was fine initially but I found after a few weeks the quality of the lenses were poorer than they should be and this came down to the quality of the solution in question. So I decided to use a rival brand to see if they made a difference and sought out the Boots own brand lens solution amongst others. This was certainly one of the finest solutions I have used in my quest to find the best one on the market.
This cost me a fiver which is almost half the monthly price I pay for my whole lens/solution package but something had to be done. Maybe it's a plan of the company to make the solution ineffective to make you buy more lenses so something had to be done. This fiver gets you a 250ml bottle of the solution.
As with all solutions is works on two fronts, not only does it clean the lens when being stored over night and keep it dry but it also acts as a disinfectant making it suitable and healthy to insert into the eye. It works superbly well on both fronts!
The solution is slightly less greasy I have noticed than some brands which means that the lens is less sticky when you get it out the case. Sometimes I feel when taking the lens out on a morning using rival brands it looks too greasy and needs a clean, but this is a very light and clear non greasy solution.
One little matter which might be worth mentioning. After about 5-6 hours use previously I started to get itchy eyes and they would go blood shot but this hasn't happened with this solution which shows it probably has better effects on the lens. Same lens, different solution has made a massive difference. I have also noticed my eyes generally feel healthier, I am suffering less dry eye by far and overall am feeling my eye is stronger and more healthy than ever.
Overall then the boots solution is a fine fine product that has improved my lens wearing by far and has made my eye feel more healthy and clean!

** Boots All In One Lens Solution **
Even Boots has his own All In Once Lens Solution! It seems that everybody has his own version of the solution. It is perfect because the more competition the lower the prices will get! Boots sells their solution for the price of 3,50 pounds for a bottle of 250ml. I need the solution to clean my lenses and to keep them clean while I'm not using them. Simple right?
With the all in one Lens solution it's always difficult to tell the difference between the different brands. I can see a difference in the packaging but that's almost it. It's both liquid and you can only tell if they work or not by how the lenses are clean and believe me you will notice it when they aren't clean. When I get irritation or even red eyes I know it's often due to dirty lenses.
The Boots All In One Lens Solution should clean and disinfect your lenses and it's a solution that you can use to store your lenses. It's always important not to reuse the solution in the case and you need to make sure your hands are clean before putting the lenses in. Also important that you can't use this with soft lenses and is only for hard lenses. The solution is easy to use for cleaning your lenses. You always have to be careful while rubbing the lenses with the liquid that they don't break.
So the right solution is important but who can tell the difference between all those brands? I can't. The only thing I can tell if my eye are getting irritated or quicker dry or some kind of sign that there's something wrong. But while using the Boots version I never really experience that kind of problem. It really looks like the Boots contact lens all in one is really keeping my lenses clean.
The solution comes around the price of 5 pounds and you get the 250ml bottle for that. It's a bit expensive but the bottle last me about a month. You only need a little bit for cleaning the lenses. It's an easy simple but important product for daily use but I know that there are cheaper ones out there and since the difference is really hard to tell, I rather go for those. A good product but just a little bit more expensive.
Boots and their own lens solution?
A lot of these brands have their own products now and often I don't really see the difference between the home brands and the more expensive brands. Especially when it comes to lens solution because you wouldn't really expect a big difference because they are there to keep your lenses clean. So when I saw Boots had his own solution I was quiet curious.
For almost ten years now I have been wearing lenses and normally I bought them with the lenses at the optician. I still believe that you should be careful where you buy your lenses since they can really damage your eyes. At least at the optician they will check your eyes. When it comes around with solution I rather go now for the more cheaper brands because they are normally the same really but just cheaper.
Boots lens solution comes around the price of 4,99 pounds and then you get a 250ml bottle. It's not the cheapest lens solution out there and Tesco sells the same amount for 3,49 pounds which I think is quiet a difference.
The solution is to be used while you are not wearing them so when you are keeping them in your case or for cleaning in your hands. The solution can be used for daily cleaning and is disinfecting, removes protein and is moisturising for adding comfort. Sounds very good and I have to say it works fine for me. The solution make my lenses clean and make sure that my eyes don't get irritated or red while I'm wearing my lenses.
You only need a little bit of solution to clean them in your hand. You just put a little bit in the palm of your hand and then you softly rub the lens with your finger into the solution and you turn the lens around and do it again. It's advisable to wash your hands first before you do this!
I think the Boots all in one lens solution is great and easy to use. They keep my lenses clean and that's very important. But to be honest I don't really see the difference with a brand like Tesco and that one comes for a lot cheaper. So I rather go for the Tesco one.
I normally buy the Tesco All In One contact lens solution which is the cheapest around but with me having moved house lately I am no longer near the Tesco Extra stores. The reason I say this is that I have been to all the city centre stores but none of them sell it as they are too small so I decided it was time to look for an alternative All In One that was still a good price and a good sized bottle. While in Boots, all I could see were the expensive brands like Opti-Free but then I noticed a pinkish box which said Boots All In One and realised this must be their own version.
The solution comes in quite a nice tall rectangular shaped box which has light pink type saying All In One so that you know it isn't their saline solution. It then has bold white type which states that this is for rigid gas permeable and hard contact lenses. The solution cleans, disinfects, rinses and stores, I was going to buy the saline one as it is cheaper but it doesn't say you can store it only rinses.
You are never to re-use the solution in your lens storage case. If you don't plan on wearing your lenses for a few days, clean and disinfect them and store them in this solution in a closed case. Intolerance or burning may occur in using the lenses if so consult your doctor. To avoid contamination, never touch any surface with the tip of the bottle and replace the cap after use.
Do not use with soft contact lenses in your lens storage case. Do not use eye medication whilst wearing contact lenses, except under medical supervision.
When it comes to solution it is a pretty straight forward procedure. I always take my lenses out every day after use and store them in a small contact lens case. Normally, when you buy solution a new case will be in the box but not with this Boots product. I usually put a bit of solution in the right and left eye case and then take my lenses out and place into the appropriate part to clean themselves overnight or just when I'm not wearing the lenses.
The solution is also easy to use when putting on lenses just drip some onto the lens, rub it and then place it onto your finger give a drip and then put it into your eye. I always find the solution to be quite good, it never makes me eyes irritated or anything. The solution is good at cleaning and always ensures my lenses have been thoroughly cleaned overnight and are stored well. At the end of every day of storing, I always empty the solution out of the case as you are meant to or it will cause the eyes to get irritated.
This is a brilliant solution that is still good value for money and from a trustworthy brand. I have tried numerous solutions now and just because it is cheaper than the bigger brands doesn't meant it works any less. This is a good bottle that lasts at least a few months and has saved me money as well as being helpful for cleaning out lenses and rinsing them.
If you are looking for a smaller bottle, either for travelling or just to keep you going for a bit then get the 120ml which is £2.99 or you can get the bigger bottle which is 250ml and it is £4.99 which is the one that I opted for. It is good as well as you will gain Advantage Card Points which you can save up so that maybe next time you buy this, it will be free.
If you want more information on Boots and their contact lens solutions then you can always go to http://www.boots.com. You can of course buy this product online if you are not able to access a Boots store and it states that you will earn 16 points with this purchase. The only downfall is that you will have to pay £2.90 unless you choose the collect from store option which is cheaper.
