Advantages: Good value, effective
Disadvantages: None
I suffer regularly from dry and red eyes. Lately it has been due to hayfever but even in the winter they react because of the indoor heating systems or the wind.
Therefore I have tried a number of eye drops and are usually quite horrified at the prices of them. Therefore whilst I will look at the premium brands to start with, I think go to the own brand ones. Hence I now consistently use the Boots own Brand Brightening Eye Drops.
These drops contain witch hazel which is a soothing plant and used for swelling and infections as it cools and calms.
The drops ease dry eyes and whiten them by creating a cushion which is moist and this helps to soothe and protect the eye from the usual hazards that make them dry, red and itchy.
The Packaging
Like most eye drops, these come in a cardboard box and inside is the bottle with an inbuilt dropper. There is a protective seal you need to break and I would then recommend removing the plastic ring otherwise it can hurt if it falls into your eye. Yes, this is the voice of experience talking!
Usage
You only need to administer 1 or two drops in each eye - I tend to use one and if need be can top up during the day. The instructions note that you can take these as and when required throughout the day however not to exceed the dosage. Unfortunately as they don't really stipulate the daily recommended dosage this is rather difficult to say. However I don't believe that using one drop at a time maybe twice daily would exceed the dosage.
Feel / Sensation
The drops are clear and they don't sting like similar brightening eye drops I have had. They don't make your eyes water either so you don't have to wait a while until putting your makeup on which is a time bonus for me in the morning!
Effect
The effect they give is of shrinking your red eyes blood vessels which ensures they look whiter and brighter. This does not take long and within 5 - 10 minutes your eyes have lost that redness and bloodshot look.
Suitable
They are suitable for children and adults over the age of nine years old.
Size
8ml
Price:
£2.99 from er Boots of course.
These drops last me for about a month as I like to keep my drops refreshed and bacteria free. However if you only use two drops a day they could last I think about 2-3 months given that mine are usually slightly more than half full when I throw them away to ensure sanitation for my eyes.
Summary
Again, Boots has come up trumps with their own brand range of products! These are a good value priced item, extremely effective and well worth it. Bright Eyes here we come!
Summary: Great Boots own brand bargain - see my eyes are shining!
