Advantages: Easy, comfortable, allows you to wake up being able to see
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than other lenses
I switched to these contact lenses about three years ago, after getting fed up with my daily disposable contacts. I've never looked back. Dailys were too much of a nuisance for me with the constant in and out each day. My eyes were always too dry come 7pm, which was a nightmare if I was out for the night.
These are most definitely contact lenses for the lazy person, which is why they work fine for me. They last 30 days but you can wear them whilst you sleep, meaning you only have to take them in and out once a month. My optician advises that if I find it necessary I should take them out for a night and clean them, but I find they never get dirty or make my eyes feel dry. The miracle of waking up and instantly being able to see clearly is something that people with 20-20 vision will never be able to understand, but 3 years on and I still appreciate it.
Occasionally I wake up with my eyes feeling dry and have to blink rapidly to clear them, especially at the end of a cycle, but this is not painful and clears up after a few seconds. The only down side I have found is that I am now so out of practise getting my contacts in and out, I struggle to do it the once a month it is necessary! I never now wish that I could afford or work up the courage to have laser surgery - what's the point?
Summary: 30 day lenses that you wear both day and night, so you only have to replace them once a month!
