Advantages: Gives you the freedom to do anything at anytime, without needing your specs

Disadvantages: Can be irritating at times, you would still need googles for swimming

I have been using these lenses since 2002 and until 2009, i thought they were great. I was originally introduced to these lenses by spec-savers and the cost was £30 per month. It took me a while to get used to putting these into my eyes, but after the first year I could get it into my eye in seconds. After i found that you could get them a lot cheaper on the internet I stopped buying them from spec-savers and started buying them online. I was paying £360 per year for these from spec-savers, compared to £120 on the internet.

You put these lenses into your eyes and then leave them in for the whole month, which includes sleeping in them. This was what appealed to me most about these lenses, you could put them in and forget about them for a month. Occasionally i would leave them in for more than a month but they would start to get irritating and i would know to change them at that point. Sometimes you would get something in your eye and you would have to remove the lens to clean it and possibly your eye before putting it back in.

Around 2009 I thought that i had damaged my eyes because these lenses would start irritating my eyes, I could only keep them in for a few days at a time. I went for an eye test and was told to wear glasses for a month and rest my eyes, the opticians thought this would fix my problem, but after a month i had the same problem. I went onto the internet to look for alternatives, and then found out that other people were having the same problem. Apparently the formula had been changed, which caused a reaction in some peoples eyes. I then went for a different brand, but they were not as good as the old Night and Days. I started wearing glasses again after almost 10 years with lenses and just as I started getting used to them again, I read that the formula for the Night and Days had been reverted, as people were not having problems with them anymore. I got a fresh batch and although not as good as the older ones, they were still pretty good. I am now back in these lenses, until Ciba Vision decide to change the formula again.

Overall, I think as long as your eyes are happy with these lenses, these are a cheaper alternative to Laser surgery, but probably only in the short term. You cannot do everything in these lenses such as swimming, or walking down dusty roads, you would need goggles or sun glasses for that, but for anything else, you can be free of glasses.

Summary: Cheaper than laser surgery, better than normal lenses
