Advantages: convenient

Disadvantages: too expensive

I used to wear these, as the name of the product suggests, Night & Day for over a year and was very happy with them. This review will be quite similar to my previous one for Bausch & Lomb Purevision lenses as to be quite honest, I didn't really see much difference between them apart from price, which is the only reason I switched.

Air Optix CIBA Vision Night & Day are monthly, continuous wear lenses that allow you to do all your daily activities without the need of taking lenses out - including showering, sleeping, etc. They are made of silicone hydrogel (Lotrafilcon A) that allows oxygen to freely access your eyes. If you need your contact lenses every day, I find this type to be the perfect option - as it feels like if your eyes were actually healthy. All you need to do is put them in, and then one month later take them out and throw away again. Ok, ok, occasional break is quite a necessity as having something in your eyes all the time can be a bit irritating - it feels like having an eye lash in your eye, and normally this feeling goes away if you take them out for a while, or use eye drops/spray. I normally take them out for the night couple times a month.

However, as they are more irritating than usual monthly type, or the dailies, there are quite a few contraindications and it's not the most convenient to start wearing them. Firstly, you need to be given a test pair by your optician. He will see you and check your eyes after a day, and again after a week since you put them in to make sure your eyes are coping well. Only then you're allowed to wear them normally. You shouldn't wear them if you have sensitive or dry eyes, abrasions or scratches.

As I mentioned above, this type of contact lenses is absolutely perfect for me as glasses make me sick and these make me function as if my eyes were completely healthy. However they are more expensive than other lenses of the same type (online, at £37.40 for two boxes of 3, they are almost twice as expensive as Purevision) without any practical difference at all.

Summary: Great lenses, but there are cheaper versions just as good out there
