Advantages: Good for my eyes
Disadvantages: None
After wearing monthly contact lenses for quite a while I switched to daily disposable lenses on the advice of my eye doctor at Vision Express and I was getting a little bit of a build up in my eyes and he wanted me to give my eyes a break now and again by not wearing lenses and switching back to my glasses so the best way of doing these was by using daily lenses that I could wear when or not I want to.
The lenses he put me on were these Ciba Vision dailies Aqua comfort Plus lenses. He mentioned these to me and suggested they were the best ones for me eyes as they let a lot of oxygen into the eyes as opposed to other daily lenses and as I had a bit of a build up on my eyes, I needed a lot of oxygen getting into them each day. When I do wear lenses I tend to wear them for about 12 hours per day so I really needed some lenses that were kind to my eyes.
These lenses come in a pack of 30 one-day contact lenses so you get a months supply per eye in a box although sometimes I wear two lenses a day as if I am going out in the evening I like to refresh my eyes and take the contacts out and start again with a new pair for the evening. These can be worn in the left or right eye.
The lenses come in an individual pack with a plastic sheath over the top of a plastic holder. You just pull this plastic sheath off to get into the lens packet. The lens is sitting in a 69% water in buffered saline solution so when you get into them they are nice and moist and always well protected. I have never had to throw away a lens because it has dried out. The lens itself is a soft lens so its very pliable and I find these quite easy to put into my eyes. Inside the box there are actually pictures showing you the best way to put the lens into your eye and how to get the lens out of the plastic pack. The plastic pack has a bit of a bulb shape to it so its very easy to use the tip of your finger to scoop out the lens. THen I put it on the palm of my hand, put my finger on it again as it sticks quite well and then place it in my eye. If for any reason it does not go in the first time the nice thing about these packets is that you still have a bit of saline solution in them so you can soak the lens in solution again and attempt to put it back in your eye.
At the end of most days I find the lenses have been nice and comfortable and not made my eyes go tired and I always can see well with them. If I have had them in for over 12 hours they do dry out a tiny bit and getting them out takes a few goes and makes my eyes sting a little bit but once they are out my eyes feel fine again.
I get four packets of these lenses per month, two packets for my left eye and two packets for my right eye, so 120 lenses in total and it costs me £19.50 from Vision Express.
