Advantages: Cheap. Comfortable.

Disadvantages: The foil on the packaging can sometimes tear accidently.

I decided about a year ago that I fancied giving contact lenses a trial. I've had glasses for a number of years but have a habit of forgetting them or forgetting to put them on!

I thought if I tried contacts that I would get in the routine of putting them in first thing in the morning and wearing them for the duration of the day.

My initial impression of contact lenses on the whole, wasn't a great one as I'd had a bad experience at the opticians. One of the contact lenses I was given to trial had fallen out (unknown to myself) and I had to show the optician that I could remove the lens myself before they let me have them. 20 minutes of poking myself in the eye later, they put dye in my eye and realised it wasn't even in!

But! Even after my bad experience I thought I would persist and try them out. The contacts I had my trial of weren't very comfortable. They felt too big and I could actually feel them while they were in.

I spoke to a friend who said maybe I needed to try a different type, but to persist until I felt comfortable.

I'd put out a plea on twitter for advice on contact lenses and if anyone could recommend a particular brand and quite a few people got back to me, all recommending the same company - Daysoft.

I went on the website and filled in my details which took no time at all. They ask you various questions about what type of contacts you currently use etc to see if you are suitable to use the Daysoft daily disposables.

I was a little dubious to begin with as it seems quite strange ordering contact lenses off the internet but I went ahead.

The first thing that I was pleasently surprise about was the price. The contacts are a fraction of the cost that I was quoted by my opticians.

My order arrived within a few days which was really good. The packaging is small enough to fit through your letterbox, so you don't have to worry about being in when the postman comes or having to collect it from the post office.

The contacts come in strips with metal foil coating. This is good as it means you can tear them off as you go or if you're like me, you can tear some off to have in your handbag or overnight bag too and they don't take up a lot of room!

The only down side of the foil design is a couple of times it has torn slightly so the solution the lenses are in has leaked, so you need to be quite careful.

The contact lenses are soft but easy to get out of the packaging. The packaging can wobble (when you have them on the side/in your bathroom) as the lenses are in a dome shaped plastic shell unlike some of the packaging I have seen which is rectangular and therefore more sturdy/less likely to spill.

I haven't had any difficulty putting the contact lenses in when I have used them.

My eyes did not feel itchy or dry when using the contact lenses. When I have worn the lenses I sometimes forget that I have them in as they are so comfortable, unlike the others I tried out to begin with. As a newbie to contact lenses they are an ideal way to try them out.

The contact lenses are easy to remove and dispose of.

The service is fast, cheap and easy and the lenses are comfortable. It is a really convenient way of buying contact lenses, especially if you are on a budget!

Summary: A cheap, convenient contact lens which is comfortable to boot!
