Advantages: Comfortable to wear, Cheap to buy, Clean

Disadvantages: None

Blind without them.

I am sure there are many of you out there who know what I mean when I say without my glasses I am as blind as a bat. I am also sure that those of you who do need to wear glasses are familiar with looking at the world in a blurred way without them.

Glasses are a pain.

However useless I am without my glasses there’s no getting away from the fact that they are a pain, uncomfortable and that your vision is impaired straight away at the slightest covering of dust or dirt over your glasses. How many of you like myself spend many minutes of the day cleaning lenses with the bottom of tee shirts and jumpers when there just isn’t a tissue in sight and then moan that your lenses are scratched and you still can’t see all that well? It also can’t be forgotten that when it comes to going out in the good old British weather that our trusty glasses make it even harder for us to see, as they don’t appear to be water proof and really enjoy steaming up at the first opportunity.

Seeing options.

So what’s the option then, well its either spending loads of money on laser treatment which although I have been told does work is not an option for some of us as it’s quite costly. So lets quickly move onto the next option. Contact lenses. This alternative for wearing glasses has been around for quite a while. There has either been a choice of wearing soft lenses or hard lenses, which are very uncomfortable and then you have to look after them as much as you would do a child, with all the cleaning, soaking etc. Once again in comparison with the children if you lose your contact lenses you’re in big trouble. That’s it no more, it’s off to the opticians to start again and your purse strings are pulled tightly once more.

A change for the better.

So the alternative to wearing glasses seems at a loss and somewhat more inconvenient that was until the daily d
isposable contact lenses hit the market and the situation changed all over again and I have to add defiantly for the better.

Can you do it ?

I would strongly recommend you give the daily disposable lenses a try. I was once someone who never thought I could even put contact lenses into my eyes yet alone leave them there for a whole day. My personal recommendation is the “Focus Dailies” contact lenses that you can get from almost any opticians. Yes I have to admit that I lost my patience with my glasses and decided to give them a trail. My first thought was ok if I get them in and don’t like them how easily is it to get them back out again. I was off to the opticians to find out.

The big day

After sitting thought the normal sight test to get an updated prescription the optician proceeded to look through a selection of lenses and was opening a packet of new contact lenses before I could say a thing. It did surprise me that he put them in for me but after a very quick head tilt of about five seconds and keeping both eyes completely still (which is a bit difficult at times) they were in. My first reaction was to rub my eyes and blink but the optician just told me to hold still and keep my eyes closed for as short time while my eyes got used to them. I kept asking if they were in my eyes as really I couldn’t feel a thing, but it was reality I had contact lenses in my eyes.

I can see clearly no the glasses have gone.

It seemed like quite a wait but I then opened my eyes admittedly they were a bit watery at first but that soon went. I was amazed to see the difference I could see clearer than in my glasses and even better is that the lenses move with your eyes so you can see all around clearer rather than just the bit covered over by glasses lenses. I was totally impressed. I spent a little bit of time in the opticians learning how to take them out and put them in which again admittedly comes easie
r to some than others but after that I was away with my new eyes. It was the first time I had walked around without fear of bumping into things for eleven years

Why wear lenses?

They’re re many advantages to these lenses as opposed to wearing glasses. Firstly they are not on your face and you can go out in the rain without only being able to see raindrops and they defiantly don’t steam up. The benefits of having the disposable lenses over the others are huge. To start with they are more hygienic, as you wear them once and them throw them away so there’s no chance of dirt of dust getting in your eyes. They also come in a sterile solution, which they can stay in for up to four years so there’s no need to worry if you don’t want to wear them every day. They last for a long time.

No real cost.

The best thing about these lenses is the cost it works out they only cost a pound for one pair so it doesn’t matter if you drop one on the floor while your trying to put them in as the replacement isn’t costly. These lenses are also on an order as you need them rather than direct debit which is much better. Also if you receive help with the cost of your eye care like I do being a student, then you can have these lenses instead of glasses. There is also no hidden cost of cleaning solutions to look after them. The only other thing I have bought are artificial tears to stop them irritating on the very rare occasion they do and that’s only really when your in a smoked atmosphere. You can also swim in these lenses so no more sprinkled with water glasses in the pool. I can also play other sports without the risk of my glasses being in the way or getting broken.

Go on try them out.

So there you have it I think you must have gathered that this particular sort of contact lens gets my vote any day. So if your using contact lenses that you don’t like or you simply want to stop wearing
glasses then these are defiantly the ones for you.

Go on give them a try. Some optitians are even offering a free trial so there’s no excuse not to try them. I am sure you won’t look back once you have.
