Advantages: easy, comfortable, clean

Disadvantages: cost, folds inside out

When I first was told I had to wear glasses I was thrilled, I know it's strange but it was all the rage. All my friends were wearing glass lenses in their glasses so I fitted in really well.

Then the fashion faded, like all fashions and I was described as "the girl in the glasses" and I hated it. So I decided that I was going to get contact lenses.

I had to have an up-to-date prescription and also a contact lens fitting wear the optician measures your eyes to see which lens is best suited. The prescription for glasses is different to contact lens strength so do not buy then without a fitting as you can damage your eyes.

There is a huge choice, monthy, daily, hard, soft, gas permeable, coloured......etc etc.

I decided to get the daily disposables which are a little expensive but so easy to use.

At this point I would like to ofer my first piece of advice......ask the optician for some free sample before buying a months worth. A few do fall down the bathroom sink.

So my first attempt it took about twenty minutes to get the first lens in after much laughing and a few rolled up into little balls. I was so suprised when I opened the little sealed packet filled with sterile water to see this little bit of cling film. I was so determind I had both in with half an hour. They were fine and I could not feel them at all. (although I looked like I had a fight with Mike Tyson.)

I kept them in all day and forgot they were there. Then the fun part came getting them out. I had not thought about this before but it was really easy. All I had to do was drag the lens down and pick it off my eye. (is much easier than it sounds)

That was it, within days I was popping them in and out.

They are really so easy and comfortable. I did try the monthly ones but because they are a little thicker I could feel them all the time and did not really like them.

advantages are that they are s
terile and let the eye breathe. Do not have to muck about with solutions, removing protein or worrying about one falling down the sink.

The disadvantages i suppose is the cost. Also they tend to flop inside out and that is uncomfortable so beware.

Another tip is to buy some eye lubicant drops to put in to the eye through the day if they become dry and sore. (cost about £4.) Never happens very often, air conditioning is the biggest culprit.

I use the focus dalies but there are lots of differnt makes but the optician advises you on the best for your eyes.

They cost about £30 a month which is not a lot to pay.

Now I wear them every day and am not happy on the rare occasion I have to wear my glasses. I am so vein. :)

I tried contact lenses about 7 years ago. Never got on with them and wasted £60 :-(

I've been using contacts since the last 22 years. I've been using disposable since the last 5 years. I use the Bausch & Lomb Sequence. Useful info - Vinod
