Advantages: Easy to fit, no solutions

Disadvantages: More expensive than glasses

It took me a long time to take the plunge into wearing lenses. I really did not like the idea of poking myself in the eye, and even thought of a little bit of plastic floating on my eyeball brought tears to my eyes.

But being vain I talked to my optician lenses again. She recommended One Day Acuvue, and twelve months on so would I. I only intended to use them on my bike, but gradually used them more and more.

Acuvue come in at around £25 a month if you wear them six days a week. As I don't and work on a cost of about 75p a pair I don't mind throwing one away if I drop it.

If I do get a little lint on one before it gets into my eye each lens blister comes with sufficient solution to swish it clean. This was more of a problem at first when I lost half my eyelashes each time I used one! Now it takes a minute or so to put them both in.

I keep a few in my car and at the office so if I do break my glasses which happens more than you’d think I can always see. For those of you on the pull you can slip a pair in your pocket or purse and stay out all night without worrying!

There is no need for solutions or holders and you can wear the lenses all day. You should take them out when you go to bed, but if you are too 'tired and emotional' you will remember to take them out in the morning because they do get sore.

I would definitely recommend lenses for the summertime as you don’t need to keep switching glasses in the sun. For those of you who have ever walked into a meeting in shades then realidsed, took them of and sat blindly for an hour, this is a boon.

I get my lenses through the post, which means I get them cheaper and with less hassle. You can choose how often you want a delivery. You do need to visit your optician once a year to get your eyes checked. It is more frequent than for glasses, but hardly a burden.

I would like to buy these lenses with colors as I thi
nk that it would be refreshing to be blue or green eyed every now and again, but I have not seen such a range yet.

Overall I would recommend these lenses as they are comfortable and easy to wear and pretty cheap if you just use them now and then.
