Easy Vision Contact Lens Solution
Advantages: Works well, Easy to use, Can use directly in eye when dry
Disadvantages: Too many bottles on contract with Specsavers..? Waste of money?
Before realising I was short sighted, I had all kinds of troubles. Obviously for a starter, I wouldn't be able to see as clearly as I would have liked. I struggled to see things in the distance. I would then suffer further if I was tired as my eye sight was twice as bad - slightly blurry and I just felt wrong. This caused further stress, and this further worsened my sight. It was like a spiral down. However there is one product, which I have become very familiar with to this date, which is the central solution (quite literally) to sight loss and contact lenses.
I don't know what it was, but I felt obliged to go to Specsavers when I started losing my far sight. Perhaps it was their great adverts, or the fact I felt like I would be in good hands with them as they are a well-known and widely popular. I soon got my eyes tested and decided I wanted to go with contact lenses as opposed to glasses, although I later bought a back up pair of glasses as it's always good to have them, mainly in case your eyes get an infection so you cannot wear contacts.
I ended up on a monthly contract paying £13 a month for contact lenses along with this Easy Vision contact lens solution. I got three bottles of the stuff included in the package with three sets of contact lenses and a couple of new contact lens containers to store them in the solution. This would all last three months, but it still cost £13 each month. As far as I remember, Specsavers retail one bottle of the solution at around £7 or so. The current bottles that I receive are mostly green with a large label on the front that features a turtle swimming under water.
The bottles are 250ml in size and tend to last me ages. You are meant to replace the solution in the contact lens holder everyday and wash out the holder every now and then. However I tend to replenish the solution every few days as I rarely get round to doing it every day. This means that I am getting a build up of these solutions. Ideally I'd like to pay less and only receive 2 bottles for three months as this would be plenty for me. The solution works very well though and keeps my contact lenses in good condition. The contact lenses are nice and moist once I take them out but they do start to dry up pretty quickly after you take them out the solution. I guess this rate depends on the type of contact lens and also what the air/temperature is like in the room you are in.
I tend to put a few drips of the solution onto each lens before putting it in my eye. This helps the contact lens to adhere to the surface of the eye and tends to make it less painful providing you aren't putting it on at an angle. The 250ml containers are sealed so you must release this before unscrewing the lid. This then reveals a little drip mechanism, and you can squeeze the bottle a little to help squeeze out larger volumes of the solution if you don't want it to just drip out. I have even used the solution directly into my eye if they are a little dry to help them moisturise. It has worked perfectly for this, although it may not have the same effect as certain eye drops.
Overall I'd recommend using this solution as I've had no problems with it. I don't see how you can use so much that they give you on order, even if you do re-fill it every day but I feel they must give some extra as a back up. Considering the price they charge for it anyway, I'd prefer to opt for a bottle less and pay less! You will need a solution especially for contact lenses (water doesn't work - it damages them!) so I'd recommend trying this one out.
Thanks for reading
