Advantages: Convenient, minimal risk of infection, save money on solutions, easily transported.

Disadvantages: Thinner so more susceptible to drying, more expensive than monthly lenses, less oxygen permeability

Focus Dailies are great for casual wear. They are suitable for full-time wear aswell, but most wearers will find that towards the end of the day the comfort isn't as good as when first inserted and some may find them intolerable. This is typical of most contact lenses but more so with these as they are thinner in design (as they are Daily lenses) and dry up quicker. The effect of drying is exacerbated in air-conditioned environments, central heated environments and those people using VDU's. The effect of VDU, isn't actually caused by the VDU itself, but rather by the fact that most people actually stare at screens without realising it. When staring, the blink rate is reduced, so the tear film over the eye/contact lense isn't renewed.

You can of course use refreshing drops which are available from most opticians and most pharmacies. Or alternatively it may be worthwhile speaking to the Optician about the Focus Daily All day Comfort, which are said to be better towards the end of the day due to a wetting agent included in the lense.

Otherwise, like all daily lenses, Focus Dailies rid of the need to clean them daily and therfore avoid the cost and use of solutions. This also gives the benefit of avoding a reaction from the preservatives in the solutions which some people can be sensetive to. Otherwise, they also minimize risk of infection as a fresh clean pair is worn each time.

From a clinical point of view, there are superior lenses out there, which allow far more oxygen through the lenses, but these are monthly lenses. I generally advise patients to wear monthlies if I feel that they are to wear lenses all day everyday.

Summary: Good for casual wear, and excellent in keeping risk of infection.

I am a professional and yes I have used them....Also...even if I hadn't used them...when you have the theory coupled with talking every week to 10+ people who wear them about their experiences you get a good idea of what the lense is like.

Excellent theory, but have you actually used them? I get the impression you could be an optician or similar, but I'd really like hear personal experience of using these lenses rather than what the professionals say!
