Advantages: Get comfortable wear for a longer period

Disadvantages: Eyes do still become dry towards the end of the day, they are more expensive

When I first started wearing contact lenses at about the age of 16, my optician put me straight on to Acuvue Dailies. I was very happy with these, but after you've had the lenses in a while, and perhaps getting a bit tired also adds to this effect, the lenses tend to get very dry and uncomfortable; as they dry through the day, they start to stick more to the surface of your eye and therefore they don't move freely and can impair your vision. I would say that seven hours was about the comfort limit for these lenses.

I then got a free sample of Acuvue Moist dailies. To be honest, I didn't really notice a great difference; I thought that the added comfort would be very apparent with the extra moistness in the lenses, however I was disappointed that my eyes still got dry towards the end of the day.

Yet, although I wouldn't have paid the extra money to move up to these lenses at the time (as I didn't see a difference worth the money) eventually my optician upgraded my prescription anyway and now I feel, thinking about it, that I actually do get a longer period of comfortable wear; probably about ten hours as compared to the seven hours of the other standard lenses. I think possibly I didn't notice a difference to begin with as I am wearing my lenses for longer periods now than when I first started using them and so yes, my eyes still do get dry and uncomfortable with the lenses towards the end of the day, but that day has probably been longer contact lense wise!

I believe there is a difference for the better with these lenses and I wouldn't go back to standard Acuvue now; whether the difference is pronounced or not, these Moist lenses must be healthier with the more breathable material and the extra moisture of their 'Lacreon technology' and for the difference in price, I think it's best to buy the healthiest lenses for your eyes that you can.

I find these lenses easy to insert and to take out and it is obvious if you have them inside out from their shape when they are on the tip of your finger. They also have UV protection, apparently more than 70% which is great. I think Acuvue are over all a great contact lense manufacturer and I trust my eyes with them. It's also important to note that everyone's eyes are different and so one person's eyes may become more dry throughout the day than another persons and so it's important to try these things to see which suits you best and I think these are certainly worth trying out!

Summary: Better than the original '1 day Acuvue' - a must try for dailies contact wearers!

Good review. I'd be interested to know, though, what your prescription is - not the specifics, of course, just whether you are short sighted or long sighted, and whether these are only appropriate for certain corrections.
