Advantages: Use and Throw

Disadvantages: Expensive

I have been wearing contact lens for over 20 years (makes me feel really old). I started with the non disposables, moved on to monthly's and now on to daily's. I have thought about having the laser treatment, but my optician advised me against it, arguing I would need reading glasses in the near future, so I would always be optically challenged!

I am by no means 'blind' (-2.50), but vision is blurred when looking at people, television or any other interesting sights. I decided to give the 1 Day Acuvue Moist a trial as I found that by half way through the month, my monthly's were dry and itchy, giving me only four hours a day wear. Going out in the evenings was not enjoyable, as I ended up switching to my glasses after a couple of hours. Also a friend recommended these daily lens, so I was all up for a new challenge.

The Acuvue lens are made by Johnson and Johnson. They are expense, especially in comparison with monthly's. They cost around £20 to £30 (depending where you buy), for a box of thirty, so that is between 66p and £1 a day. Please note you do not need to buy contact lens fluid, which does save some pennies!

Acuvue Moist Lens comes in a blue a white box. I buy these lens in boxes of thirty, thus you will need two boxes per month (you can also get boxes of ninety). Inside the box the lens are nicely sealed in little pouches of fluid. On each pouch the prescription, expiry date, and other data is written. The lens are in strips of five, so you often have an odd pouch floating around.

I found the lens a little difficult to get use to. They are much thinner than normal lens and quite hard to put into your eye (and I am an experienced user!). They are extremely delicate and soft to touch. You really need to get it right the first time, as it's not good to keep putting them in and out, they can break. Once in, you can not notice them at all. They are comfortable and also have a UV blocking protection.

One of my main problems is dry eyes. Living in a dry, dusty climate, alongside air conditioners is a contact lens wearer's worse nightmare. However the Acuvue Moist Lens do well in these conditioners. I can wear them for twelve hours without feeling too dry and itchy.

I would recommend these contact lens. They are expensive, like all daily's, but I value being comfortable and I am prepared to pay the price. I will always be short sighted, so to find contact lens like 1 Day Acuvue Moist is fantastic. They make seeing a pleasure!

Summary: They make seeing easy
