Advantages: Comfortable, great vision, cheaper than dailies

Disadvantages: Can be difficult to take out sometimes

I trialled a lot of daily disposable lenses before coming to the conclusion I was going to have to try monthly or bi-weekly disposables to get the great vision I wanted. This is because I have an astigmatism, which standard lenses don't correct. An astigmatism usually happens if your eye is rugby ball shaped instead of round and occurs at different 'axis' on your eye. If you have an astigmatism your glasses prescription will have a number written under the 'axis' column. My right eye has an astigmatism at an axis of 105 and my left at 85. You can now get daily lenses for astigmatism, but they only come in limited axis. I did trial a few of these, but the nearest axis I could get them in was 90 which meant that I got fairly good vision out of my left eye but not from my right eye. In fact, when my optician checked my eyesight with these she was quite surprised to find my eyesight was better with my standard daily lenses! I didn't really want the hassle of cleaning lenses every night so I stuck to my usual standard acuvue dailies for a while until taking the plunge into monthly/ bi-weeklies. I tried quite a few brands before asking my optician for a free trial of Acuvue advance for astigmatism. As with most monthly/bi-weekly toric lenses, they come in a fantastic range of axis, every 10 degrees. My optician tried me with 100 for my right eye and 80 for my left, which is only 5 degrees out from my usual glasses prescription. These particular lenses are bi-weekly, so you wear them for two weeks before changing them. I felt that was more hygienic than monthly wear lenses. I do admit I sometimes wear them for a few days over this if I forget to change them. I've never had any detrimental effects from doing this. As soon as I put these lenses in my eye, I couldn't feel them. I was really shocked as toric lenses are quite large and all the other ones I tried felt like grit in my eye. My vision while wearing them is very good, practically as good as my glasses. I can wear them all day without them drying out. I don't need to use re-wetting drops anymore. I literally forget I've got them in. While wearing them I feel like I've got normal eyesight. I really cannot praise them enough. I've got used to cleaning them every night now and it only takes a few minutes. Please note though that these are silicone hydrogel lenses so you have to make sure you use a cleaning solution suitable for these. I use opti-free express and have never had any problems with deposits building up on my lenses. As the lenses are made of the newer silicone hydrogel material they are better for the health of your eye as they allow more oxygen through, which is an added bonus. The only slight downside is that they can be hard to take out sometimes, but I think this is the case woth most toric lenses.

Summary: I forget I'm wearing contact lenses when I've got these in!

Welcome to dooyoo and well written. If you space the review out a bit with paragraphs, it would make it easier to read, but it's still a good review!

Happy dooyooing!
