Advantages: High water content - great for dry eyes or those who are prone to irritation
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than some other brands
These lenses are great. I have been a contact lens wearer for the past 10 years and this is third type of lens i have tried. I used to wear Focus Monthlies which suited me well for a good few years though i would never go back to them now i have tried Oasys by Acuvue!
I changed jobs about 2 years ago and went from an active job to one sitting at a desk all day literally staring at a computer screen. I started getting headaches, my eyes felt uncomfortable and almost painful. I saw my optician and he said that when you stare at a screen all day your blink rate can drop to almost nothing - which dries out contact lenses no end and can actually have an effect on the vision that they give you - hence why i was getting headaches. I had thought i would need a new prescription - certain that my eyes had changed but he suggested trying these lenses instead as apparantly they have the highest water content of lenses on the market.
They are two weekly disposables but if i don't wear them every day i may use the lenses for a few days extra to eek out the time before i have to buy a new supply.
They are so comfortable it is unreal - i wear them for probably a lot more than the recommended amount of time each day. Sometimes from 6.30am to midnight - i know not recommended but sometimes needs must! However my optician still assures me my eyes are in top condition so no need to worry! But even with all this wear they have never ever become dry and i probably have irritation with them when dust or something has got in no more than about once every two months. With my old lenses it was more like once a week something in them felt uncomfortable.
As soon as these lenses go in your eye you don't know they are there. I used to find with my old Focus monthlies that it would sometimes take a few seconds of moving the contact lens around my eye to get it comfortable however with these Oasys ones they just go in and thats it.
I get mine from visiondirect.co.uk where you can buy them in 3 month or 6 month supplies. Some people say they are more expensive than monthlies or dailies but with my old lenses i was paying about £16 a month as i got them from my optician. Now i get them online - even with these new lenses it is £66 for a 6 month supply - so £11 a month. I think its well worth it.
I would say give them a go if you are having any problems with your current contact lenses such as irritation or dry eyes. I thoroughly recommend!
Summary: 2 weekly lenses with a high water content - i thoroughly recommend . They are incredibly comfortable
