I have been using Acuvue since 2005 when my opitician took me off using Surevue - I don't know why - and I was hessitant at the time because you do hear horror stories about contact lenses drying your eyes out or causing damage!
These are tinted blue - which is really good if you're clumsy like me and drop one of the lenses on the floor or in the sink basin. (Always clean the lens thoroughly if you're going to use them again!!)
The lens is soft and flexible and small in diameter. It uses the tears of your eyes to stick and so this is where you can get the problem with dryness.
Thankfully, Acuvue are very moist and easy to wear. They allow your eyes to receive a little oxygen which reduces tiredness and allows for clear vision all day long. I would warn against wearing them while you are asleep (even if you are napping!!) because they do feel unconfortable and dry after a sleep.
Acuvue contacts are weekly disposables - whereas Surevue are monthlies. I like using weeklies now and wouldn't go back to monthlies - my eyes just feel more fresh and comfortable now and it is easier to keep them clean and retain their strength. (What I mean by that is when I use monthlies, near the end of the month my vision becomes a little blurred and not so great - I do not experience this when I need to change my weekly Acuvue contacts.)
As always, consult your optician before changing your contact lenses and remember to be very careful if you plan to wear them while you go swimming. (Whilst this is not advisable, you can swim with them as long as you make sure not to allow the water in your eyes)
They're fairly cheap - (The cheapest is being distributed at Asda for a little over £15 a month) which is always a bonus and I would definitely reccommend them to anyone.
I am not using Acuvue now - but only because I have a stigmatism and Johnson and Johnson have released a new brand of contact lenses called Acuvue Advance for Antistigmatism which I am due to start using later this week.
I have been using these for over a year - these are great no problems, my eyes do not dry up and no misting in the mornings.
The great thing is there has been no deterioration in my eyes and they are as healthy as ever.
I have tried daily disposal as well as monthly take in take out and clean but for ease of use these seem to be the best compromise.
You don;t have to worry about eye infections or issues with keeping lenses in your eye for a week. I am told they have a built in UV layer which blocks the sun therefore they give you better sun protection out and about compared to other lenses. This is a real bonus as UV rays can damage your eyes even on the dullest of days.
Overall very happy with the lenses and will continue with these for another year !
Been using these for a few months no nice fit, comfortable, dont dry out good Contact Lenses. Not sure whether having monthy ones or daily ones from this company would be more comfortable or less comfortable, ive never tried them. However I know a friend who wears Specsavers own and he doesnt seem to think Acuvue are any better than the own brand ones, I guess its personal opinion what fits you best what budget you're on.
I personally use these contact lenses from specsavers and have done for the last 12 months, I originally used the 1 day acuvue but swapped as these were cheaper. I was worried that you had the same contacts in for a week and worry about eye infections as they were as clean as wearing a new pair everyday. But ive never had any problems and you just take them out at the end of the day and pop them into the solution which cleans and removes any impuritied then they are ready to wear after being soaked over night. These contact lenses are comfortable for me to wear even after a long night and they have a built in uv sun blocker which helps to protect your eyes so you dont need to wear your sunglasses all the time. I would recommend these to anyone - im happy with mine!
