Optipak 3D Soaking Case
Advantages: Solid case, good design, something different
Disadvantages: Nothing really
There are a number of different contact lens cases around at the moment, with various small companies mixed in with the larger big brand names, all of them essentially producing products that are good enough to keep your lenses in.
The case is a quirky design, and Optipak do a very wide range of cases, with various fruit designs, cute creatures and the like. Really, they're mainly attractive due to their novelty value, as most people who wear contact lenses will only ever have plain white cases with slight alterations to design leaving the functionality the same.
These cases though do something slightly different. The left hand side of the case is domed with the right hand side the flatter of the two. This gives it a bit of an alternative look from the usual flat tops, even if it is slightly less practical. The inside design remains similar though, with slight troughs with the smallest of ridges in each case allowing the liquid and lens to sit in there quite comfortably. The lids screw on very easily, a well designed screw top that is nigh on impossible to screw on wrongly - comforting to know that you're unlikely to get leakage through screwing it on wrong unless you don't tighten it enough. The underside of the lids have ridges which stop the lenses from sticking to them, although a couple of times I have found a lens on the top - it just doesn't happen much is all.
The different colours are quite nice, and not just aesthetically. One thing with usual cases being predominantly white is that you don't really see when there is a dried buildup of solution or any grime that comes off the lens and sticks to the sides, as it's usually a pale crusty white. With the different colours this then becomes very obvious and stands out - I find it makes it easier to clean them when it's easy to see where the dirt and concentrated areas are.
Ultimately, i can't really say there's any difference between these cases and regular ones other than those I have already mentioned. I found this brand of lens to be a worthy buy, and at around the £2 mark for a case, you really can't go wrong, especially as some more higher brand name cases can easily cost twice this price. I think this is a great price for a great product. Quirky designs, really good artwork on the stickers on the right case and good design on the domed part as well. This is a quirky and quality range of products, and most certainly recommended.
Summary: Very good quirky novelty contact lens case
