Advantages: Really works, easier and more hygenic and has a longer shelf like than eye drops.

Disadvantages: Quite expensive.

I've always been really squeamish when it comes to eyeballs! That coupled with a tendency to suffer from dry easily irritated eyes means that this new product from Optrex is a godsend.

I could never apply eye drops myself and had to get someone to put them in for me, even then I had to be virtually pinned down (you should see me trying to get contacts lenses in....nightmare!) so when I read about this new Acimist eye spray I just had to try it! I was abit put off by the price first of all, it's not cheap, retailing at £14.67 for a 10ml bottle, but when I realised that unlike eye drops that have to be used within a month of opening, this actually has a 3 year shelf life, delivers about 100 metered doses and can be shared unlike eye drops where this is a risk of contamination and therefore the possibility of spreading infections.

It's simple and straight forward to use, simply spray on to closed eyelids and let it seep through on to your eye. It gets to work straight away, soothing tired gritty eyes instantly. It says to spray from a distance of about 10cm away but if you do spray to close you'll find it can drip down your face so I recommend holding it about 15-20cm away.

It works by repairing the tear film (a thin layer of liquid that covers your eye) which breaks ups and devleops tiny gaps allowing moisture to evaporate from the eyes's, hence why they get dry and irritated.

One of the best things is that unlike eye drops they can be used whilst wearing contact lenses (both hard and soft) and it claims not to wash off your eye make up, I don't know if this is true or not as so far I've never had any on when I've used it.

I also love the fact that the bottle is clear so you can see how much you have left and therefore you can make sure you buy some more before it runs out. It is now a must have in my handbag, I work in an air conditioned shop and use computers throughout the day, and this has definitely made a difference, my eyes don't get half as itchy and dry as they used to.

Amazing stuff! But I have taken one star off because it is quite expensive.

Summary: Refreshes and Soothes Instantly.
