Advantages: Brings instant relief and moisture to dry eyes, easy to apply
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
My eyes have been giving me such a lot of problems lately. Ever since I had the conjunctivitis infection (which I treated with special eye drops), my eyes have been dry, sticky and really painful. My mum bought me Optrex Actimist Eye Spray to help get some moisture in my eyes and hopefully, relieve some of the pain.
The product works by stabilising the lipid layer, this is the part of the eye's natural tear film which reduces tear evaporation. The spray applies liposme particles onto your eyelid, which then refresh and improve hydration of the eye. It is also suitably designed to cope with the effects of everyday living such as using the computer, air conditioning, tiredness and pollution. Optrex Actimist claims to "relieve, refresh and revive" for the "immediate relief from symptoms of dry, irritated eyes". The spray form means that it is very simple to use and hygienic in the process. You can even use whilst wearing contact lenses and eye make-up.
I have found this product to be really beneficial, and it does supply the instant relief which I need. You can use it up to 3-4 times per day which is also handy. I normally apply it as soon as I get up in the morning and before I go to bed, as my eyes are really dry and painful at these times of the day. The spray adds instant moisture to my eyes and relieves the dryness and irritation.
Hold at a distance of 10cm and close your eyelid. Use 1-2 sprays over your closed eyelid and repeat 3-4 times per day.
Optrex Actimist Eye Spray is avaliable at chemists, supermarkets and some opticians. A 10ml bottle containing 100 doses normally retails at £14.99, which is really expensive for what it is and although I really like this product, I'm not sure if it's worth the money.
Overall, I really like this product and it does bring relief to my eyes in an instant when I'm in need of a quick fix. If you suffer from dry eyes like me, I would recommend it as you can feel the difference. The spray form is also another bonus, it is so much easier than applying drops (I always seem to close my eye just when the drop comes out, which results in a lot of wastage!). A little tip is to look around on the internet for any special offers before buying, as I have seen it advertised for around £9.00, which is a bit of a saving and slightly more justifiable.
Summary: I really like this product and it does what it claims to do
