Optrex Dry Eye Drops
Advantages: Feels SO nice in your eyes!
Disadvantages: Doesn't last long enough!
I do suffer from dry eyes especially in the winter when I have the heating on, it really makes them sore! I also suffer in the summer because of my hayfever. I suffer all year round too due to my wearing of contact lenses, so these have turned out to be a real lifesaver!
I normally get these from Boots or Asda, and they retail at £4.50 for a 10ml bottle, which will normally last me for about a month.
I've tried other brands similar to these and I've always found that they don't quite work aswell as Optrex so I always turn back to these eye drops as I know they won't let me down.
The drops are basically just sterile water, there's nothing harmful in them, it's just like providing your eyes with a few more tears when they're feeling a bit dry and sore. It says on the packet that the drops match the natural pH level of the tears and also helps to clean your eyes at the same time.
They're simple to use, just like any other eye drops, tilt your head backwards, hold open your eye and squeeze about two drops into it. I normally squeeze about 5 in because I blink and shoot half of the liquid back out again! The bottle is really easy to squeeze and doesn't put too many drops in at once, it's easy to squeeze gently, and know how many drops have been released.
It's a really soothing feeling when you put them in your eyes, and it's almost cooling too. It definitely doesn't sting or irritate your eyes, and I've actually grown to really enjoy the sensation!
You can use these drops with contact lenses, and it really helps when I am staring at a computer and my eyes go all dry and blurry! A few drops and I'm good to go. I find that I only need to use them a few times a day, although sometimes I do a few extra sneaky drops, just because it feels so nice!
One downside is that it says on the bottle to use within 30 days, I find I use about a third of the bottle in that time, and to use the whole thing in a month would be some pretty excessive usage! I do use it for over 30 days and haven't experienced any problems.
I think that this product is well worth the money. It helps to alleviate my sore dry eyes and leave them feeling soothed and refreshed. I subsequently always carry these around in my handbag so that my eyes will never feel dry again!
Summary: Good to use if you suffer from dry eyes.
