I suffer from glaucoma and apply eye drops night and morning. It's no hardship and because it was caught early, I haven't lost too much of my vision. One issue I do sometimes have though is my eyes get a bit dry and sore and feel a bit gritty.

When this first happened the consultant changed my prescription - apparently it's not unusual. Now, it still happens from time to time and I just bathe my eyes with Optrex Eye Wash.

This clear colourless liquid product comes in a small clear bottle which contains 110ml, enough for loads of applications. Also in the green and blue box is a green plastic eye bath into which you pour some product until it is about a third full. You then tilt your head back and, holding the eye bath tight to your socket so that it doesn't dribble out, you open your eyes and swill it about.

I tend to keep swilling for a minute or so (it says 30 seconds on the box) then I repeat the process for the other eye. For me at least the product works as I feel relief from tired eyes straightaway. Your eyes do feel as if they have been washed - which of course they have!

In addition to purified water, the product contains Alcohol, Boric Acid, Glycerin, Witch Hazel, Sodium Borate and Benzalkonium Chlorate. It claims to also contain natural plant extracts. The makers are Optrex of Nottingham.

I would only advise that on the inside of the eye bath there are two raised lines. It would be natural to assume that these lines represent the fill level. However, on closer inspection, these raised lines do not correspond with filling the eye bath one third full as instructed. So, if you fill to this level, you will be using more product than you need. This of course suits the manufacturer nicely as you will buy a new bottle a bit sooner than you otherwise might. Call me a cynic if you like.....because I am.
