Renu Multi Purpose Solution Travel Kit
Advantages: Practical, plane compliant, value for money
Disadvantages: Nothing really
One of the main issues I have found with having to wear contact lenses is when it comes to having to go anywhere. When you're putting your lenses in each day, and have your solution, cases, tissues etc all set up in the same place, it's not really an issue, and if you do wear them and clean them every day, then you'll need to have the bigger bottles you usually get supplied. However, these really aren't practical for travel purposes, and you have to have some sort of container to put them in.
This neat little travel pack from Renu is a great idea, and it's well executed as well. The main idea is to have a little travel pack that you can take with you on holiday, and now that there are very specific criteria for what liquids you can take on the plane with you, you don't want to be messing around with solution and hoping that you've got enough in your lens case.
The pack does come in its own little bag, which is okay, but I wouldn't necessarily keep it, especially if you're restricted on space which you might be if you're flying somewhere. I find that taking a bottle of the solution and one case (there are two of each in the pack) is enough for a short trip, and if you don't end up using all of the solution, then you're not wasting a lot, and it hasn't cost you a bomb. Even if I wasn't going away anywhere, I'd prefer the smaller bottles anyway, as I don't tend to wear my lenses every single day and don't need the majority of solution I end up having to pay for. It would only really be for the plane itself as the moisture often gets taken away due to the altitude and maintaining breathing levels, so your eyes could dry out with contacts in and you may need solution easily accessible.
The cases are solid enough. They're not the best quality, but they're easy enough to open and haven't leaked on me yet. They are a standard shape and size, and fit well inside the nook of any bag or even pocket. I suppose in a way there isn't really much here that you couldn't sort out yourself, looking only really for the smaller bottles of solution that this pack contains. The travel bag doesn't really do much, although it would help in the event of a leakage I suppose. However, I have separate zippable compartments for my toiletries bag, and there's one just the right size for the solution and case.
But I guess the main selling point for this pack is the flight compliant nature of it. The zip bag and the solution bottle comply with legislation and specifications for flight sizes, etc, and this is something that would take the worry away if you're trying to make sure you're meeting the requirements. The multi purpose solution isn't really much of a selling point as this is quite common now, so it really boils down to the actual convenience of being able to take it as it comes onto a plane. If you fly regularly, then this would be really handy. If you don't, then it's still worth getting, as at the price of around £5, it's far cheaper than a lot of solution bottles and cases would end up being.
It's cost effective, plane compliant, and very practical and handy to have. Specific for use on flights,r eally, but still useful otherwise. Recommended.
Summary: Very good practical travel product for contact lenses
