I bought my last batch of monthly disposable lenses from Sainsburys, but I don't know if I'll bother doing it again as it was really difficult getting a copy of my prescription from my optician (Boots). Having said that, once I managed to cajole a copy from them, Sainsburys were great. You save an average of about 40% buying your contact lenses through them as opposed to through a High Street optician and my contact lenses came through three days after I placed the order. I spoke to their customer care line a few times and always found them to be polite and helpful. Their website is fairly easy to navigate and I managed to place my order in just a few minutes - not bad considering I had to decipher all the cryptic information on my prescription. I'm not sure if I'll buy more contact lenses from Sainsburys after the problems I had trying to get a copy of my prescription which is a shame for them as they really didn't do anything wrong!
I use these all the time- i used to hate the bother of getting them, but you can get almost any brand from Sainsbury's at decent prices (sometimes they are 40% cheaper than high street opticians prices), with free delivery. I have never had any problems with prescriptions or anything, its all very straight forward. Also, they you 20% off aftercare if you have any problems. However, you dont get such personal care as you would at a normal opticians- its just like buying any other product.
I tried twice to send them a perfectly valid prescription and they returned it to me because of minor details.
After having to return to the opticians twice, I finally got a 'scratch-free' year long fresh prescription.
Before trying Sainsbury yet again, I decided to try another similarly price site (GetLenses), and with no probs I got through the first time, with the perfectly valid prescription that Sainsbury rejected, got my lenses through the post and we are all happy.... and they have a freephone number as well!
I have just received my contact lenses from www.sainsburyscontactlenses.co.uk . I bought focus dailies contact lenses at £18 per month nearly half what my local optician charges. The service was good and when i called the helpline with a few questions they were very helpful. The only hassle is that they need to see your original contact lens prescription, but at least they do provide a freepost address. I received my lenses within 2 days of placing my order and sending my presciption. When i reorder i won't have to send my presciption so i think i will definitely be ordering again.
