Universal Barrel Style Contact Lens Case
Advantages: Compact and convenient
Disadvantages: Can leak from time to time unless you keep it upright!
Ive had contacts for quite some time now and have had to use this little contraption on a daily basis, i have had some down sides about this and ill explain these in the sections i have allocated below.
Price and Availability
You can get hold of these very easily, you can buy them online if you need to get another one but the easiest and cheapest way to get hold of one of these would be to go into specsavers or wherever your get your contact lenses from and simply ask for another case as they are more then likely to give you a spare one. I once lost mine and went in and asked for another case as my old one had broke, They handed one straight across as without this i would have to keep my contacts in and this would damage my eyes more then they already are!
After looking on eBay you can buy three of these cases for 99p then approx a 1.99 postage and packaging charge so these can then be delivered in neat condition, so that's basically working out that its like. 3 pounds for a new case each month of the prescription if your the same as me and get your lenses sent to you quarterly.
Appearance and Design.
The case is a rather simple design, yet does everything that it needs to do! it has a simple screw top design which holds the fluid in rather well yet can leak sometimes if you try to carry around in your pocket (as i did today) When you unscrew and then pull of the top of this device you can see that inside is like a nice to open device where you can place the contacts on each side and trap them in. One side is labeled R and the other L, this is a handy little extra as this can help if you have some sort of eye infection. you will keep it only in that eye until its treated where if you were to muddle up the contacts it would be transferred alot easier from eye to eye! You can then snap these shut and screw the lid back on, thus leaving the contacts encased in there cage which is then submerged into the fluid to keep them soft and ready fro the next days use.
The case is just shy of an inch in diameter and about one and a half inches in height, this is a very small compact neat way to keep them safe and when your taking out and placing your contacts into this each night you will then be able to place this on a shelf and keep it safe!
You need to make sure that you clean this daily as if you dont it can risk a chance of getting an infection and there is nothing more attractive then having an eye throwing out some juice and gunk all over the place! a simple was in warm water. then left to dry naturally. then filled with fresh solution has kept my eyes working to the best of there ability so far! i wouldn't worry to much about if you miss a single day but i would recommend that you keep on top of this the best you can so you dont take the risk!
Handy little device which you get free each month, but i only get one in my pack, it would be nice to have 3 so you could have a new case with every fresh pair of contacts, just to make sure things stay extra healthy as there isnt anything worse then having to risk an infection when it comes to something as important as your eye sight!
Summary: Handy little device, be nice to get 3 cases in a box so you can have a fresh case for fresh contacts
