Advantages: Safe storage. Portable. Easy to use.

Disadvantages: Uses more solution.

The Universal Barrel Style Contact Lens Case is very simple in design but also it is designed with its specific purpose in mind. It is a small plastic tub which has a screw on lid in which you can store and clean your contact lenses between use. The case is fairly small, measuring just 5cm x 2.5cm and so its very portable and small enough to be able to carry around in my handbag. The case can be filled with 10mls of the contact lens solution which is plenty enough to cover the lens and clean them adequately. The lid fits securely and so its perfectly okay to use this case when in transit and you can be secure in the knowledge that the contact lens solution will not leak. Attached to the lid is the contact lens storage cage.

In order to use it, you need to fill up the case with about 10mls of contact lens solution and then open each said of the cage in which the contact lenses are to be stored. One side of the cage is labelled R (for right) and the other side is labelled L (for left). This means that it really isn't possible to get the right and left side mixed up. The contact lens fit easily into the cage and then you close the case and immerse the cage back into the fluid.

I have been storing my contact lenses in this barrel style cage case for about 4 years and, to date, my contact lenses have not been damaged at all while they are in storage. The only negative thing about this storage is that you need to use more of the contact lens solution to ensure that the contact lenses are adequately covered (like I said about 10mls), but as the solution I use only costs £5 for 500 mls, I really don't think this breaks the bank. I replace the solution daily and so it costs me about £3 per month.

I do think this Universal Barrel Style Contact Lens Case is a really good design and for £7.99, which is what it cost me, it's very good value and lasts years.

Summary: Recommended.
