The Adaptec Serial ATA Host Controller 1205SA offers improved system reliability by adding 32-bit CRC error checking for all bits transmitted (command, data, and status). Parallel ATA provides CRC only for data packets. Serial ATA also features built-in support for first-party DMA to eliminate bottlenecks associated with on-board DMA controllers. It also minimizes electronic noise that can lead to data transmission errors.
