The BC4452 (4 ports) SATA-based host bus adapter provides a wide range of businesses with a high level of data protection, reliability, and I/O throughput that previously were unaffordable for many. The BC4000 RAID HBA family, comprised of 64-bit, PCI-X low-profile compliant controller cards, offers the only 2U compatible SATA RAID controller cards available today for either Windows or Linux environments. Based on Broadcom's BCM5770 Serial ATA controller chip, the BC4452 controller cards significantly boosts reliability with efficient power consumption and thermal load balancing, and feature a MTBF (mean time between failures) of 3.5 million hours, which is nearly three times greater than that of competitive SATA RAID controller cards.

Broadcom's BC4452 card supports up to four disks. Up to four BC4452 cards per server appear in the management GUI as a single 32-port drive interface for large array support. So to obtain RAID 50 you need two BC4452 cards.
