Back to the good old classics

This is not a book I would say has jumped on the GBBO bandwagon in any way but if you are used to those books [as I am] these CAKE themed books from Rachel Allen is very different so come prepared for a new cook and different ideas.

I would describe this as an old fashioned and featuring the old classics, kind of cookbook.
This cook seems to bring back a lot of memories of Aunts and Grandma cooking but more up to date and fresh. I would say this is not really for the health conscious at all because it is unashamedly full of naughty calories!

      The chapters focuses on:
      EASY
      FAST
HEALTHY [but a considerably smaller section]
      CLASSIC
      TEATIME
      DESSERTS
      CHILDREN'S
      DECORATING IDEAS
      CELEBRATION
      FESTIVE
      CAKE ESSENTIALS

My particular favourite chapters were the Decorating ideas and the festive ideas. I was very grateful for the ideas and the tips and tricks to help you achieve at home masterpieces[ a work in progress] and not have to buy instore.

This is one of the best aspects of this book. If you make sure you have the store cupboard ingredients then you can make many of these cakes at the drop of a hat.
The instructions are perfect to understand and the format of the book is clean and fresh. with great homely pictures.

Pear and Giner muffins were so much nicer than we thought it would be and with a cup of Earl Grey, it went down a treat!

This retails at £14.99 but is available in kindle format as well.
