Advantages: Full of things I would never have thought of
Disadvantages: I have eaten too much since I bought this book!
Jamie seems to have an awareness of exactly what the country need on their bookshelf.
"Jamie's Dinners" is another of his great offerings to his fans, complemented by the TV series this book delivers on all accounts.
This book combines the homely feel of recipe's that we have grown up with and that little pinch of something special which makes them even more delicious!
The book is divided into eleven sections, none of which are repetitive and all feel useful, unlike a few books who seem to cram a few "fillers" in here and there!
The headings are also useful, they clearly state exactly what your going to get (sarnies, soups, pasts etc.) and this cuts down on time flicking around trying to find what your after.
What I especially love about Jamie's books is the clarity of the layout and the fantastic photography and illustrations that complement his text. This book follows suit perfectly.
There is always a little bonus in the Oliver books and this one is the closing section - "Kitchens that work". Full of useful tips to achieve a more productive kitchen/barbeque that home cooks like myself would only come across after years of doing things wrong!
To close I have included some of my favourites recipes from the book:
Ciabatta sandwich of grilled vegetables with pesto and mozzarella, because its simple and quick yet I would never have thought of making it.
Scrumptious Spanish chickpea and chorizo soup - because it sounds adventurous yet its easy to make.
Finally toffee apple tart quite simply because its delicious!
Summary: A great book to encourage us to spend more time in the kitchen
