Let me begin by saying I am very surprised to be writing the first review of this cookbook as it has been published for a few years and has some great recipes in it. Hopefully this review might encourage you to try out some of them.
So what sort of recipes can you expect to be in this book? Moro is a restaurant in London that is run by Sam Clark and his wife Sam Clark. Yes the have the same name! They spent their honeymoon travelling around Spain in a camper van which influenced their style of cooking. Moro is Spanish for Moor so the recipes reflect Arabic and Spanish influences. I love travelling and trying out new food so was given this cook as a gift after I came back from holiday in Madrid.
The cookbook is divided into several chapters relating to bread, tapas, soups, fish starters, meat starters, vegetable starters, rice, fish main courses, meat main courses, vegetables, sauces and puddings.
Some of the recipes do require special ingredients but if you like to experiment then this is a good way to try these out as all the recipes have I tried have worked well. For example the duck breast with promegranate molasses. I found this in a large Sainsburys store so it was not too difficult to get. The back of the book has a useful section which gives details of stockists to help you. There are some nice photographs of food but not all recipes have a photograph.
Some of the recipes are quite time consuming such as the sourdough bread which takes a couple of days but worthwhile making for a special occasion and people are always impressed by homemade bread! Other recipes are quite simple but packed with flavour such as the chickpea salad. When in Spain I love the churros so can recommend the recipe for churros con chocolate although avoid if dieting!
A nice touch is the foreword at each chapter to give a bit more information about the food and I also like the table at the back which shows what is in season and when.
A nice cookbook for those seeking to be a bit more adventurous in their cooking. I got mine as a gift but it is currently selling on Amazon for around £11.
Summary: Lovely favours and good ideas make it a worthwhile addition to the bookshelf.
