If you dont often use a grill then this is perfect

I bought my Beko around 4 years ago from Iceland's for just under £260.00. My old cooker which I loved gave up the ghost and went to visit the great cooker graveyard in our local council dump.

There are many reasons why I was drawn to this cooker, the first and most importantly was the price. It wasn't the cheapest by any means but it wasn't that expensive either. It was among one of the cheapest and although I did pay a little more for the stainless steel version, it looks better I think than the usual white one. Delivery was great from Iceland, they delivered when they said they would and even brought the cooker all the way into my kitchen which was nice. I got a proper installer to connect the cooker to the gas supply as this is not something I wanted to do myself; I wanted a professional; who knew what he/she was doing to install it. Safety first and all that.

I will admit when I buy new things I am like a child in a toy shop, I have to read the instruction manual and turn all the knobs, press all the buttons, open and close all the doors, having this new cooker was no different. I had to all the above, numerous times. The novelty has worn off now though you will be pleased to hear. When this was first installed the first thing I noticed was the size of it, it is quite compact really. I had an old cooker that had the grill above the rings, because this version does not have that, I was more aware of the openness of the appliance. From floor to rings it is 35 inches, it is 19 inches wide and 23 inches from front to back.

I love the stainless steel look, it is clean and cool looking, all my other appliances are white but this does somehow fit with that scheme. On the top there are four gas rings, they come in three different sizes. They range from four inches (front right), three inches (front and back left) a finally two inches (back right). The temperature gauge, is a big flame to a little flame, it has a good range of temperature and this is easily controlled. On the front of the cooker, there are four dials for each of the four rings, also one for the oven and the grill. There are two buttons for the ignition and the oven light.

A good feature about the cooker is in order to light the rings, you have to push in the corresponding knob, turn it to the full flame and press the ignition button. When lighting the oven, you have to keep the button pushed in or it cuts off the gas and goes out. After roughly 10 seconds, you can let go of the button and the flame stays on. It saves you thinking it is lit and leaving gas coming out, good idea!

The oven is spacious with two shelves it is easy to clean. The grill is my least favourite part of the cooker and I very rarely use it. You have to use a shelf from the oven to place in the grill, the handle for the grill pan, grips on but not very well. It is detachable as when you close the grill door, there would not be enough room for the tray plus the handle. When using the grill, I have tried to make cheese on toast under the grill but the tray doesn't go high enough for the grill to have any effect. It does get hot and the flames work but because the gas part sticks out a fair way, you can't get the shelf close enough to it. It is disappointing as now I don't use the grill, also once you have used it, you have to leave the downwards opening door open until it has cooled down, this can be annoying too.

The whole cooker is easy to clean, the top part all comes apart, and there are two metal covers that go over the gas rings, these lift off, you can remove the lids of the gas rings as well as the covers. Using a damp cloth, I have used either kitchen cleaning spray, or stainless steel cleaner to remove any spills then rinsed it over with a wet cloth and left it to dry. Over the years it has now got a few dried on stains that I can't get off but in general it is still a very clean and presentable cooker. I do find that once I have taken all the bits off and given it a good clean, when I next use it, the gas doesnt come out all the way round the ring as it should, it only takes a few moments for it to either rectify this on its own, or I turn the ring off and turn it back on again, this normally fixes it.

I use a wok for a lot of the cooking I do and it is quite a large one, I tend to use this when making spaghetti etc. I have a problem when making this because the size of the wok, doesn't allow enough room for a saucepan of water to boil for the pasta. I do them both at the same time but it does mean they have to both only be half on the rings, again a little annoying. One other small issue I have now is the door is a bit temperamental, sometimes it shuts with a slight push, other times it needs a damn hard slam to close it, only a small gripe.

All on all it does its job very well, apart from the grill. I would recommend it but would go for a model next time with the overhead grill, although I don't miss not having one as I haven't used it for so long. Well worth buying though.

Excellent cooker and great for people on a budget

I had to buy a new cooker last year when my last one decided to break down on me. I looked through so many websites to find the best one for me and I found this one at 1.2.3 appliances.com for £240 but in the white instead of silver. the delievery was quick and i couldnt wait to test it out.
Having a family of 4 i need alot of oven space and this was perfect.

It is freestanding and has a double gas oven. The top oven also functions as a grill to tast your foods under. It comes with a grill tray and an extra guard to place about the grill to stop your dials from melting, although i have never had an issue with this. The door opens downwards and actually stays down so its less risk of the door closing on your hands as you are trying to take something out of the top oven.

The main oven has 45 litre capacity and a built in light so you can see how your food is cooking without having to open the door. perfect for when you are baking cakes and bread. The door on the main oven opens to the side but you do have to be careful because the door is heavy and starts closing whilst you are taking out the food and if you are not careful you will burn your arm because the door gets very hot too. It goes up to gas mark 9 which is very hot and wouldnt recommend anyone cooking at this temperature unless stated in a receipe or on the food instructions

4 Gas burners are on the top and it has a ceramic top which makes cleaning very easy but you do have to watch what you use on the top because it is easily scratched and once it is scratched it gets harder to clean. All 4 burners are different sizes so for boiling milk for instance you can put it on the smallest ring to minimise the chance of it boiling too quickly. You dont have just 2 different settings for heat, you can gradually reduce or increase the heat to how you want it.
The controls to the oven and hobs are just above the grill/oven. They pop off easy enough for cleaning and very easy to turn.

It is a very heavy cooker and it does take 2 people to pull it out to clean underneath it but its not very often you do have to pull it out because the hobs has a rim around it and that helps to catch any food that has been dropped.

All in all a very good cooker, it cooks the food evenly and quickly, and it comes with a grill tray and a handle that is detactable for easy cleaning and it also has an extra cooking tray too. Very nice buy amd very please with this. very good price too
