“ Brand: Rangemaster / Fuel Type: Gas „
I have owned a Rangemaster classic 90 for over 2 years now and it has been an absolute pleasure to live with.
I know this might sound really sad, but once I'd seen it no other cooker would do, it really was love at first sight. It arrived all sleek and shiny in my kitchen and it really is very pretty. But enough about the aesthetics what is it like to live with? Here are some of the features. Tall electric fan oven, full size gas oven, seperate grill, 4 good sized burners and one large burner on the right suitable for large stews and also wok cooking (for which there is a custom built wok holder).
The tall fan oven has lots of adjustable shelves and a plate rack for warming plates. It is narrow at around 30cm wide, so you have to make sure you buy trays that fit but these are easily available. Because it is fan assisted you can actually make 4 or five batches of buns at the same time no problem. The other really handy feature is the cooker timer function. This is again for the tall fan oven and means you can set it to start and finish at your desired time, very handy if you are going out.
The main oven has 3 adjustable shelves and a door rack, which I use for the Sunday roast, it makes life easier for basting etc..
The oven also has a light so you can see how things are cooking without having to open the door (handy for cake making).
The top burners are as follows. One small,2 medium and one large. These are all above the main gas oven and none are so small that they are useless, which is something I have seen on many cookers. On the same side as the fan oven you have a really large burner, which as I previously said is excellent for large stews, fry-ups and wok cookery. I should mention that as well as the wok holder there is a griddle that fits over two of the burners, I have never used it but a friend of mine has hers permanently in place and finds it indispensable. The grill is adequately sized and easily cleaned.
One tiny niggle I have is this. Very specifically if I'm doing yorkshire puddings in the tall oven I find it almost impossible to put the mixture in the tins without spilling some as there just doesn't seem to be enough room to manouevre.
Cleaning is no easier or harder than with any oven (oh how I loathe cleaning cookers). The build quality seems fine, no bits have come loose or fallen off yet.
I have not been disappointed with my purchase and the honeymoon isn't over yet.
