Initial thoughts on this when I bought it were that it was an excellent cooker. However, after only a few weeks of use, the rings under the burners discoloured. These were replaced under warranty but contact with the Smeg customer service team was not a very good experience and they were very unhelpful. It also shows up the slightest mark on the hob, so be careful about spillages!
A few months on, and just out of the one-year guarantee,the fan oven element burned-out. We could not get any help at all from Smeg, and for some reason, they do not do that same (2.3kW) element any more. I wonder why? Reliability?
The 2kW replacement doesn't work half as good as the original. It takes longer to heat up, and it struggles to maintain temperature.
It's a pity that one can spend over £1000 on an appliance that has such poor after-sales service, that only has a year's guarantee, and that has such issues with build uality.
