I saw this pan on offer in TK MAXX and I bought it because it was so cheap compared to the recommended retail price. I have seen this pan for sale in House of Frazer for £44.00 and it was in TK MAX for £18.00. There was not a scratch and graze on it so I bought it and added it to my pan collection. I love the copper bottom as it gives the pan that old fashioned look. If I had a full set I would love to have them displayed on hooks; showing off my fancy pans.
The pan is made from 18/10 stainless steel, this is the strongest form of stainless steel as it has the strongest form of steel and nickel. Often companies only use 18/0 and have a low nickel count. This means that the metal will be more flexible and easier to scratch and damage. The base of the pan is copper. Copper is a fantastic conductor and heats quickly; it also conducts heat so that the heat is transferred to the food or water cooking much more efficiently than other metals. The pan has a long slim handle with a hook at the end and it is easy to move the pan and hold it steady without it getting hot. The pan has a lid and a little spout at the end which makes it easy to pour liquids out' hence it being called a milk pan. This pan is 14cm in diameter but you can also get hold of a 16 cm and an 18cm one.
The pan is just as hard to clean as any other and if you burn the bottom of it; you will be scrubbing at it and leaving it to soak overnight. Have no illusions, this is no magic pan. As long as you keep an eye on the food and do not burn anything, the pan can be brought back to looking new and maintains its shine. It has a few scratches on it, but on the whole the pan looks brand new (Despite me scrubbing at after burning something!)
I love this pan and I will buy more from the collection. It is probably cheaper to buy these pans in a set but I only saw the one for sale on its own in TK MAX. Hopefully they will have some other pans on offer soon so I can pick up another. I find the pan a pleasure to cook with, it performs really well and it is really quick at bringing water to the boil. I can wholly recommend this pan and if it is good enough for Jamie then it is surely good enough for me.
