Good brand, well made, worth the extra money

I have a few Le Creuset items now and this dish gets as much use as the casserole dish in my house. I have the orange set as I hadn't seen any of the other sets before, now I have I love the teal colour ones.

I tend to use this dish for doing lasagne, any kind of pasta bake, cannelloni etc. Due to its wide opening, it makes dishing up lasagne quite easy, I had a glass version of this dish but it was smaller and it was very hard to get food out of them, especially things like lasagne where you try to keep in together. Things like pasta bake etc are fine because it has no set shape. I have roasted chicken in this dish and used the juices on the hob to make gravy; it can handle the heat of a hob as well as the oven.

The weight of this dish is similar to the other dishes in this set, gives a rustic, well made feel. I again wouldn't want to drop it but thankfully have not done so. I have had this dish for roughly 5 months or so and it is still in good condition, sometimes with dishes you get the black oven baked marks on them which you can't get off, none of my Le Crueset dishes have this. I believe they are dish washer proof; I don't have a dishwasher so I wouldn't know. They are easy to clean in a bowl of soapy water though. Which is how I clean mine, they are still an expensive range, but they are so hard wearing and well made that you don't mind spending that extra for dishes that you know will not crack or chip easily.

Even with the expense I think these are so worth the money.

Ever since my Aunt gave me a set of Le Crueset pans when I was still a teenager I have been a fan of the solid reliability of Le Crueset.I recently purchased the square dish to add to my collection with the purpose of using it for lasagnes. Like all classic Le Crueset it is slightly heavier than you might expect from looking at it. It can be used on the hob as well as in the oven and it does seem to distribute heat well. I'm not quite sure how much one can say about a square dish but it appears to serve it purpose well and I imagine it will last a long time like my other Le Crueset items, and the lasagnes from it so far have been good!
