“ Brand: Tefal / Product Type: Frying Pan „
I bought this pan because it looked rather sweet with being small (just 12cm in diameter) so thought it would be useful for when I am only frying small quantities or an egg and also when I'm cooking with the grandchildren.
It is made by Tefal so it is non stick and very good quality.
It being non stick is essential as other wise it can take a long time to clean a pan after using it and I find that the pans which are not non stick tend to look worn and do not last as long.
This pan is only small but it is still quite heavy like Tefal pans tend to be. It's not very heavy but what I mean is that it's heavier than you expect it to be when you pick it up.
The handle is shaped so that it is really comfortable to hold and easy to grip whilst you are frying.
I tend to use this when frying an egg as it is a perfect size for it and I also use it when just frying up small things such as mushrooms or an onion so it's ideal as it means I do not need to use a big pan just for small amounts.
I really like this pan, it isn't used as frequently as my main frying pan but it is still very well liked. Washing it up is easy thanks to the quality of the non stick element.
I paid £10 for this which I think is a reasonable price as it is a very well known and respected brand.
==Tefal 12 cm Frying Pan==
Really a home needs more than one frying pan and the item we seem to cook most is the good old trusty egg and this small 12 cm frying pan from Tefal is ideal for such an item.
At a little over £6 I picked up this item about a year or so ago from Tesco's. This is a little bit more money than buying a Tesco's own frying pan of the same size which can be bought up for a mere couple of quid. However when buying Tefal you know you are getting a quality item from a trusted name.
This particular frying pan is widely available and most supermarkets stock a few of the Tefal range and this seems to be one of the most popular. They are not difficult to come by especially this one and in my opinion it is good to have a few different sizes in the home.
This pan is sold primarily for cooking eggs in because of its perfect size but of course other small items are still fine to cook in it such as bacon or a couple of sausages. The aluminium metal with which the frying pan is made from makes the product tough yet quite light weight when compared to others. There is a non-stick coating both on the inside of the pan to ensure the food never sticks and on the outside of it to make it much easier to clean and to remove any crusted on food residue with ease.
Cooking with the Tefal frying pan is really very easy especially fried eggs which need hardly any oil or lubrication in the pan to ensure they slide away from the pan with ease and have been perfectly cooked. The handle of the pan is comfortable to hold and is heat resistant so even when doing an open omelet which I will often put in the oven under the grill for a while I know that the handle won't be like molten lava or even melt under the heat (of course it does get a little hot and I always use a cloth just to be on the safe side, plus when the grill is on I always leave the handle poking out the open oven door slightly).
Cleaning the frying pan is just like most Tefal pans, very easy. The fact that they are dishwasher safe makes the task sometimes too easy and even in the dishwasher they come up really well although I find it really lazy to not hand wash them as a god wipe round with a sponge usually brings the pan up to looking good as new. The non-stick coating on the outside of the pan really is a good idea especially if you have cracked your egg open on the edge and have a residue of egg white dripping down the side but with this pan it means nothing because it just peels away so easy.
This Tefal pan I have looks as good now as the day I got it. I am careful not to use anything sharp inside the pan (like Himself does by cutting sausages up in the pans!) as this will of course take away some of the non-stick coating but because I haven't the coating is still in tact years on which when I think how many times per week I use it is really good going.
I can't praise the Tefal pans highly enough and this egg pan really is the perfect way to cook your fried eggs whilst not having to use too much oil in the cooking process. For this I have to award a top score.
5 out of 5 stars and a high recommendation!
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
The Tefal mini frying pan is great... I saw it on offer and decided to add it to my collection.
When I first picked it up, I got it for the sake of getting. The picture on the box doesn't do much in the way of imagination, as you can see - it fits one egg. However, I have used it more and more and I've found it is very useful. There are two adults in my household and we often use it for cooking the onions and mushrooms for spaghetti bolognaise, or browning some onions for burgers/hotdogs. It is also very good for frying some chorizo or sausage. We basically use it for any garnishes/side dishes we have to accompany our meal.
I would not suggest this frying pan if you need something to cook a larger number of items in, as you will be frustrated with the size.
The red ring tells you when the frying pan is at temperature and can be useful instead of splashing some water into the oil to see if it is hot enough.
I bought my Tefal 'One Egg' 12cm mini frying pan a few months ago in a local supermarket for £8. Shopping in Sainsbury's isn't something I often do - I get staff discount in Morrisons so do my main shopping there. I didn't set out to purchase this product, so I suppose you could say it was an impulse buy! In all honesty I had been looking for this type of product in the past, but just hadn't got round to looking into it properly (which one to buy, price etc.) but it just stood out to me. At £8 and holding the Tefal brand I just had to add it to my collection of pots and pans!
The Tefal 'One Egg' 12cm pan is ideal for doing just that - frying one egg! In the morning I don't want to be having to use a large frying pan and tipping it to one side to prevent the egg from spreading out too much. As this pan is non-stick it allows me to just leave it for a little while whilst it cooks without the worry of the egg sticking. I can then work my magic with a plastic spatula to ensure it is fully cooked through before serving, it couldn't be any simpler.
The pan is over safe to 180degrees celcius and also dishwasher safe. The easy-to-clean outer coating of the pan makes for light work when it comes to clearing up afterwards, and is suitable for all types of cooker (including oven obviously).
The pan has such a simple construction. The handle is made from bakelite and the pan itself is PTFE. I am unsure of what this is myself in all honesty. What I do know however, is that this frying pan would make an ideal first pan for a new home. It isn't the largest of pans, but it is perfectly sized for those cooking for one or just anyone wanting a single fried egg on a morning. Not everything in Sainsbury's is stupidly expensive, a lesson I learn from this product.
For the perfect single fried eggs.
