“ Brand: Tefal / Product Type: Pan Set „
I'm not a huge fan of cooking but my other half is so we share the task as I'm a stay at home mum. I do the day to day average meals while he does the big Sunday roast, homemade curries and fancy food. When we moved into together he chose the pans and had to have the Tefal make. I will admit we didn't look after them we would mash the potato in the pan with a metal head masher; they got washed with a scourer and generally got a bashing about. They lasted five years and then started to give up on us. There was nothing wrong with them they were just worn and not loved. So recently we decided to replace them and we were very kindly bought them as a gift. We chose the supra set which consisted of seven items.
In this set you get: two frying pans a 20cm and 26cm, three saucepans 16cms, 18cms, and 20cm all of which come with a glass lid, a 14cm pan which they call a milk pan although I'm not sure many use it for milk these days and a 20cm stream basket. When choosing a set we noticed it is difficult to find a Tefal set that comes with a large frying pan and a large casserole style pan. We just couldn't find one so had to opt for this one. We found this was the best set we could find. It was slightly disappointing as the set we got five years ago came with a bigger frying pan and that casserole pan I mentioned. That aside this set is still great and has the added bonus of the stream basket.
The look of the pans is pleasing with the dark grey outer colour and the black inside with the black handle and the glass lid for the saucepans. This time we opted for a set with glass lids as it is more useful when cooking to be able to see what is going on inside the pan. All the pans have a thermospot which indicates the temperature is ready. The handles on the pans are Bakelite so they can be put in the oven and stay cool up to 180c. This isn't something we do often but it could be a useful feature and it does work.
Something we didn't realise is not only is the inside of the pan non stick the outside is too. I have found this is added bonus when washing the pans. The pans wash very easily as you would expect for non stick pans and I always make sure I use the soft side of the sponge scourer and not the rough side. I intend to keep these pans in good condition this time round! For all of you lucky people out there they are dishwasher safe but I can't comment on this as I am the dishwasher in our house!
The pans are suitable for all hob types except induction. They are strong pans that up to now are working well for us. They keep their heat well when the heat is turned off. They are neither light weight nor heavy (like Le Creuset) to hold. The handle is nicely shaped to hold and fits in your hand with ease. My other half is also very pleased with the set.
I have struggled to find the seven piece set anywhere other than Littlewoods catalogue for £99. Amazon does the five piece set. Ours were bought from Littlewoods by a family member. As for value for money I think they are as Tefal are a respected make. As for the non stick remaining only time will tell so far so good and this time we are looking after them. The set does come with a surfaces non stick lifetime guarantee.
