      Very helpful

      Great value tool

I am a joiner by trade and having used many tools over the past 21 years I feel that the Ryobi 18volt plus system is very good quality for the money.
Having used a lot of other makes such as Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, Metabo, Hilti etc, I find that as they are so cheap in comparison they offer excellent value added to that the fact that they are generally well designed and well made.
The 18 volt One + system adds to their appeal as it allows you to use a whole range of power tools with one type of battery. I have a large selection of these tools and three batteries that I can swap between them. Also you can buy the tools separately without the battery making them even more affordable.

My most recent addition is the 18 VOLT ONE+TM IMPACT DRIVER. I actually purchased it when on holiday in America as it is battery powered you don't need to worry about the voltage difference and I already owned the charger. You can pick them up in the UK minus the battery for around £60.

I decide to purchase it after trying a friends Makita version, I have to admit it was a better tool, it was not that much more expensive either as he got it as an offer, however I choose to stick with Ryobi because of the fact I can swap batteries with all my other 18 volt+ tools.

So far I have been really impressed with it. I like how compact this unit is, allot shorter nose to motor section wise so I can see this being very useful in many spots when my other drills are just too long to get into a space.
With an impact driver it is a lot harder to strip a screw or bit with it. This is especially useful when drilling long screws into hardwood.
Unlike a drill, this impact driver does not use a chuck, and instead has a quick release system for changing bits. Other features I like about this drill are its battery life, built in LED light large trigger and variable speed drive.

As it is reasonably new it has not had that much use and it is unfair to judge how well it will stand up to everyday use and abuse, however if my other Ryobi tools are anything to go by I will be happy.

      * * Variable speed trigger helps assist in screw start-up

      * * Over mold cushion grip for user comfort

      Voltage: 18V

      RPM: 0-2,400 (no-load speed)

There are better quality tools out there than Ryobi but their prices and the One + system take some beating.
