Their cold and flu products work to relieve symptoms such as fever, headache, joint pain and runny/ blocked nose. I have taken their cold and flu products on a number of different occasions and on each occasion the products have helped to relieve my symptoms. They are fast acting and reliable - You can rely on Benylin products to make you feel better in no time. I would recommend them as a brand.
No other brand gets to work as fast as Benylin does. Their brand is also recommend by doctors and prescribing nurses. You don't need a prescription to buy Benylin products and I am 99% certain that ALL of their products are under £5 each.
A worthy brand for cold and flu remedies.
Benylin Childrens Tickly Cough medicine works wonders!!
I have just popped out to buy my child some medicine for his poorly cough and stumbled across this in ASDA.
The medicina cost around 2 pounds 50 and comes ina small box, within the box there is a measuring spoon (2.5ml and 5ml - one each end) and a glass jar containing the medicine itself. The medicine has a screw on safety cap to prevent any unwanted hands inside of it (i.e. baby!! lol) and has directions for use stuck via a label on the bottle.
I gave my baby a 5ml spoon full at around 10.00am and from then to now his cough has cleared right up, ..ok his cough has not completley gone but it has improved alot. He also had a runny nose and was a bit sniffely and this has also cleared up alot too.
The taste of the medicine is not as sweet as calpol but is stil sweet and has a ever so slight taste of orange. My baby did pull a face when drinking this but its not that bad really. The liquid is clear/white in colour.
Overall a really good product!
Well worth a try xx
When I was a teen I remember I drank a small bottle of Benylin cough medicine just to get a cheap high. I was out of it for three days or more. I have no idea how I heard that this cough medicine can give you a buzz. People must be very bored to experiment with stuff like that. I have heard that mouth wash, cleaning products, and even urine, can get you high. Yes I said urine, how DISGUSTING, but very true! A few years later I started using cocaine, then I quit cold turkey. Then I started experimenting with gravol for about a year. I wanted something to relax me, since I quit using drugs and alcohol. Somebody mentioned to me that gravol works like an anxiety pill. WRONG! It made my nerves worse than what they were. I took the gravol for a week straight, and from there I was hooked. I was taking up to 10-15 pills a night so I could get that same feeling I had when I first started using them. I later found out that I was addicted to the Dimenhydrinate that is in the gravol, the same drug that is in the Benylin cough mixture. When I tried to quit abusing them, I began having panick attacks. Coming off of gravol was worse than coming off of cacaine for me. I would get the shakes, then I would get hot and cold flashes, sweat, and I would see things that were not really there. I never thought in a million years that I could get addicted of all things, gravol. I remember a few years ago, that the pharmacists had to put the gravol behind the counter because kids were using them to get high, I couldn't believe how stupid those teens were. Then I turned out to be a stupid 22 year old. MY EXPERIENCE ON GRAVOL - by the time I finished a thought, I forgot what I was thinking about. - trying to write it down didn't help because I forgot what I was writing about halfway through. - I took it with a friend once (for the high) and our conversation was so impaired, that it was impossible to
string a coherent sentence. - worse yet: you can see in your friends face what your own face looks like. - possible drooling (not a first date drug) - skin is extremely sensitive: if something rubs you, you may feel like there are bugs crawling on your skin. After the first few panic checks, you learn to ignore it. - I wanted to do something like cleaning, but I had to struggle to maintain my balance. - difficulty urinating (have no idea why) - lasts up to 6 hours - 24 hours for the drug to pass through your system. So I hope this information I gave of my own experience with this drug, will change someone's mind, if they want to try it. And I hope some parents who have teens, read this, so maybe they can see the signs before it is to late. I have been off of them for some time now, but it was a battle to quit. And the only way to do so is to go cold turkey, and go through the withdrawals.
Having suffered from asthma for almost 37 years, I think I am a guru on Benylin. Personally I have used it for 30 years to my knowledge. Back in the old days, you got Benylin in large brown bottles prescibed by the doctor. Benylin was the only thing that ever stopped me coughing, as soon as the cough starts up I still reach for the trusted Benylin, but only the original recipe works. It was taken off presciption and now sold over the counter. A small bottle costing a high price. In my mind such a good product should be still on prescription and be available through the doctor. Some people really rely on this tried and trusted medicine, me for one. Many asthmatics out there would benefit from a large bottle available from their doctors. The taste is pleasant, the feeling warming and the effect is good. Soothing irritated membranes and helping to aid sleep. I have never doubted the effects of Benylin and never will
This is not a good choice for you if you like non-drowsy medicine, Benylin actually contains more of the same active ingrediant than is found in over the counter sleeping pills! However I love Benylin, I have been using it for coughs since childhood and have always found it effective (but maybe that is because it knocks you out for a few hours). Definatley not one to use when driving etc, I actually used to fake a cough on Christmas eve to get Benylin from my mum because I was always so excited I could not sleep! Not unplesant to take, but I have tasted better!
I have used Benylin in the past but I wouldn't use it now, as I know more since I used to take it. I actually know of a couple of people who are addicted to Benylin, and take it because it makes them feel drowsy and helps them to sleep, one person is finding it almost impossible to come of and goes through about 4 bottles of it a week! If you have a bad cough that persists for more than a few days you should visit your doctor. I am actually against using cough medicines and I don't use them at all now and won't give them to my children either. The reason being is if we have a cough it is a perfectly natural response from your body, coughing helps to loosen up any mucus and expell it from your lungs. By taking cough medicines you are actually making it worse, like cough suppresants for example which do surpress a cough, you will find that you have the cough for longer as the lungs can't expell it as well as they could if you hadn't had a cough suppresant. Although now Benylin is available in non drowsy form, though you can still get the original one, and one is now available for children. I would advise not to use a cough medicine at all, if you or your child has a cough more than a few days go and see your GP, although I must admit that my GP is always handing out perscriptions for cough syrups and linctuses for me and my children, I think they are given out far too freely and people now think if they have a cough they have to have a cough medicine for it. From a personal point of view the times I did use a cough medicine and I did indeed use Benylin at one time they never had such a great effect on my coughs anyway, much better to to leave them alone and let the cough take its course.
