Over Christmas my baby caught a cold, then had a really bad cough with it. When I took him to the Doctors I was sent away with NOTHING! It didn't seem to matter that my baby was choking himself when he coughed, he just said bring him back in a week if he doesn't get any better and he MIGHT give him something for it. So I decided to go to Boots and talk to the Pharmacist there. They were very helpful and gave me "Boots Children's 3 months plus simple cough linctus" Having explained that he needed to try and fight it off himself but this would help to soothe his throat. For children between 3 months and 1 year it is to be given 3 - 4 times a day if needed (5ml only) and 1-5 years to be given 10 ml, 3 - 4 times a day if needed. It really is very very good. It helped my son a lot and within a week his cough was completely gone, without the need for antibiotics. We were also given "Boots 3 months plus vapour rub" because he was a bit bunged up, this just needs rubbing on the chest, especially at bedtime. It also worked very well. The two prescriptions together cost us £7.00 which I though was very good for the relief that my baby got. So if you ever have problems with your doctor not giving you anything phone up Boots and you can speak to a Pharmacist over the phone, to find out if they do have anything that will help. Unfortunately you do have to pay for it, but in my situation it was well worth the money I speant.
