Advantages: It is nice tasting
Disadvantages: Price and overall effects
When I am not to good in regards to a serious cold or even the flu like symptoms I do take pain relief and hope that the regular cheap alternatives might assist me but if they do not I always take Lemsip.
I am not sure why because in my eyes this does not solve the problems you might have with your flu like symptoms.
A 10 pack costs about £2 and you get them in little sachets. You pull the sachet open and inside is this powder mix and you pour this into a cup of hot water and stir until you think it is completely dissolved and you are meant to drink the product. You get this overwhelming smell of lemon and yes the colour of the water does change to the lemon colour.
Now you drink the product because it is meant to solve blocked noses, headaches, fever and a sore throat and it does contain inside paracetamol as well so you do not need any tablets.
I found that when I was taking this item it takes a while to drink because of the warmth but when you have finished towards the bottom of the cup you get a really strong lemon taste. I can stir this product for ages and still end up with this powerful lemon and bitter taste at the bottom of the glass.
You then wait for the product to work and I admit you do think it works because you feel warm inside and you believe because it is Lemsip it works but I have to disagree. I have taken these befoe and never really got over my problems and ended up going to a doctor in the end. You have to take one sachet every 4-6 hours and no more then 4 per day.
I found after 2 days of taking this item I had not developed any signs of improvement and I found myself getting bored of the flavour and annoyed by how powerful the taste became.
I admit it does have a nice smell and it is rather cheap considering but I just do not see how it works when you could easily buy better pain relief which would have a much bigger overall effect.
I would say in my view you are best buying some Nurofen or something similar for a much smaller price for quicker results in my view.
Summary: I feel this does little to help people
