Advantages: Often works, price is cheaper than cold remedies
Disadvantages: Doesn't always work for me
I absolutely dread getting a cold and every time someone close by to me sneezes, I panic. Prevention is the way forward and when I saw this advertise, I knew I had to purchase it to try it out. At £7.29 from Boots, it certainly isn't cheap, but a lot cheaper than the amount you'd spend on Lemsip, tissues, vapour rub etc. for your cold.
How does it work? Vicks explains that the product works by trapping the virus so it can't expand and spread to the rest of the body. It gets trapped up in your nose and stays there until it dies.
The packaging of the product is a little glass bottle with a despenser lid. When you push the lid down, the product squirts out. The bottle comes in a box which has all the necessary information contained in a leaftlet such as ingredients, directions for use and allergy information.
Using the product is quite easy really. You insert the dispenser lid thing into your nostril and spray two or three times. Do this every few hours throughout the day. You can use it when you're surrounded by people with a cold, or when you feel the first signs of a cold, like sore throat or tingly nose or whatever. Some people say it hurts them to use this product but it's never hurt me. You're not supposed to place it too far up into your nose. You're nose will feel runny for a few minutes after using this and this is just the product trying to escape so try hold back blowing your nose for a whole until it's had chance to work.
Does the product work? I think so. I usuaully use this when I get a soar throat which is usually my first sign of a cold. If I use regularly for about a week, the cold won't fully develop. However, sometimes I forget to continue using it when my soar throat has gone and then I get a full blown cold. I would definitely recommend. It's worth a try if, like me, you hate colds.
Summary: Definitely worth a try!
