American Express ... wife and I were recommended the American Express credit card by our friends because it offers 5% cash back on purchases for the first three months. This might not sound a lot but I have managed to get nearly 200 pounds already this year which is enough for a nice weekend away with the wife . After the first 3 months the rate goes down to 1.5% The APR is very high on this card so you have to be quite disciplined in paying it off each month but touch wood we have managed this each month. The best thing to do is to pay the petrol council tax and any large bill on your c ard and the cash back soon adds up. Getting the card was quite easy we filled out the forms on the off ... Boots Advantage Card ... remember getting the Boots Advantage card when I was just 15! Me and my friend got it as something to do at the time. Abit random hey! 8 years later and after alot of money spent in Boots on make-up and cosmetics I have had alot of good rewards from using this card. Every £1 you spend gives you 4 Boots Advantage Card points and they also have days/ occasions where they have offers (e.g double/ triple your points) in order for you to earn extra points. These are probably the times when you should shop at boots, as this is how you can make the most of getting your rewards. Tesco Clubcard Credit Card ... lots of people, I buy a lot of items on my Credit Card & pay them off the same month. Because of this I have always wanted a Credit Card that gave me something back. That s why I went for Tesco s card. First of all, applying. This was very easy. I filled out a form in store & after a couple of weeks, I received my card. Very easy & hassle free although not as immediate as if you go to your own bank. At the moment they are offering 16.9% APR with offers of 0% interest for 6 months on balance transfers (however a small fee applies on the transfer) and 0% on purchases for 12 months.
