Robbie.N Robbie.N I agree that the AMEX cardholder in the US seems to get a much better deal as far as benefits which come with the card - not to mention lower annual fees! The same can also be said for their cash-back blue card, which again is much more rewarding for US cardholders (up to 5% cash-back). You're right that this card is not value for money by any stretch of the imagination and represents only an ostentatious status symbol (which frankly most people wouldn't recognise anyway) 20/03/04
millerj millerj The Centurion card seems to have let you down this side of the pond. However, in the US it gets full marks as the service is better and there are a lot more perks - such as upgrades on Concorde when flying to London [BA] and Paris [Air France]. Amex is well known – in the US more so – for not giving members an inch when it comes to repayments. The fact that is was your banks mistake should fix the problem and perhaps your attention should be directed at getting a small cash gift from your bank as compensation for the inconvenience caused. It’s such a small complaint, as a Centurion card holder, you were treated quite well! Their usual response is to get heavy with the debt collection agencies straight away. Failing that, the four big banks such as Barclays and Natwest are launching their own “black” credit cards to compete with the Amex Centurion. The qualifying criteria is a salary of £60K +. I don’t expect this to be a problem for you as the qualifying salary for the Amex Centurion is a minimum of £150,000 annually… 25/06/02

aefra aefra Welcome to Dooyoo. A good and interesting op. I also find that not enough retailers take Amex. This includes some well known stores. 01/03/02
cmh4135 cmh4135 I suspect that many readers of this opinion will not actually know what a Centurian card is so you might like to explain a bit further.

I do not like Amex. They are unhelpful in the extreme and the card is not accepted everywhere due to high processing charges. Still with the Centurion it does arrive in a rather nice box! lol!

Welcome
